    I live and work here and I'd much much rather support a UK ISP than an American one but If UK ISP's are going to just buckle and not put pressure on government representatives because it's expedient then they must be punished financially.

    Move your sites off of UK hosted ISPs and tell them why you are doing this. Encourage others to do the same.

    It really depends what you're doing with your data. Thousands of inserts updates and deletes aren't so hot on a distributed system. Queries can be really nice though.

    You move the site out of the country, somewhere that doesn't give a shit about what you're publishing, you then update the DNS records to point to the new address.

    It'll take all of a day to accomplish plus a couple of days to propagate.

    There are a few people with 'plans' for boards 'real soon now' at the moment, but all there is at the moment is vapourware.

    The only shipping products cost $2500 at the moment and are slower than the ix86 equivalents at 1/20th of the price.

    If you want a PPC motherboard, your cheapest option is to buy a Mac and strip it. Mad isn't it?

    IBM make these fantastically powerful Power CPUs. What're *you* going to plug it into if you ever managed to get your hands on one?

    You can't buy Power or PowerPC motherboards for love nor money.

    Don't expect to see the technology in commodity AMD CPUs until IBM have fully exploited it in their high end systems.

    I suggest that someone explain to them how many of the sites being blocked are religious.

    I suspect that they will be very interested to know that they are being put in the same categories as the 'pornographers' and 'fascists'.

    I know of a company that are going to make an anti gravity system that can lift 160 tonnes and hold it hovering in the air indefinitely.

    The system is called CargoLifter and it'll be used to transport extremely large and heavy loads thousands of miles by air rather than road.

    I'm surprised that the US people still allow the government to literally burn hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes the way they are.

    I mean, what exactly does throwing billions and billions of dollars in your taxes at a NASA get you that you couldn't get by throwing billions and billions of dollars at universities and other more worthy research organisations... Teflon? The International space station? WTF is that for anyway? Can anybody enlighten me?

    While NASA monopolises the US space market, private companies and investors are going to stay away. Nothing will get space research and exploration going faster than some good old greed. I don't particularly like that thought but it's a simple fact of life.

    Anyway wouldn't you rather that companies like Iridium burned billions of dollars up in the martian atmosphere than the government? At least that way, you get a choice.
