    Help. Somebody please explain it all to me. It's just arithmetic. Lets say...

    A bottle of V|4GR4 costs me £1.99 and sells for £9.99
    It takes 2 seconds to mail a spam mail.
    My broadband costs £14.99 per month.

    I basically need to make 3 sales per month to make a profit.

    There are 2592000 seconds in a month, it takes 2s to send each mail, that's 1.3 million spam mails.

    Only 0.0002% of the population mailed to need buy a bottle of V|4GR4 to make a profit.

    50% of the population have an IQ of 100 or lower. Basically I'm on to a winner.

    The price of oil will increase and make alternatives feasible. In a scramjet? What it means is that devices like a scramjet which will use vast quantities of fuel will have a ... limited ... influence on the world.

    Consumption is a religion for some and it is due to a belief that the economy will collapse if we don't all go out and buy something and just throw it away unopened. Why would people think that? Actually. The economy would collapse. It's based on the way our monetary system works now. Constant exponential growth is required to continue functioning. That means high quality, long lasting, reliable goods are pushed out by short term consumption to keep the money circulating.

    I like to argue for social justice so I'm naturally wary of any solely private system, but a well-designed private system would be ten times better than what we have now. Have a look at the German system.

    If someone measures their self worth on the amount of money they earn, or the expensive toys they have, then you are questioning their status in the social pecking order. You believe this is a new phenomenon?

    It's basically the human equivalent of peacock feathers. Look at me, look what I can earn, I'll be a good mate, I can support lots of children etc. It goes back to our chimphood.

    To change this behaviour in males, you'll have to change female selection preferences. I don't know... The mother of all marketing campaigns might do it, but I doubt it.

    If this catches on, health care will become a little more affordable. It won't make any difference. Your high healthcare costs are caused by the way the entire system is set up. Not the IT infrastructure.

    Anyone who thinks there's some monolithic "US Government" that acts as one and perpetrates conspiracies, or alters Wikipedia as a matter of policy, is a retard. A government is a collection of individuals, all pursuing wildly different agendas simultaneously. How naive. It doesn't take a monolithic government, or a conspiracy. It just takes a clique in positions of power with an agenda which doesn't match the stated one.

    Given the hundreds of millions required to be spent to gain the Whitehouse... We have the CEOs or other high ranking executive officers of various multi-nationals involved. I'm not convinced that incompetence is the explanation. For this or any of their other actions.

    But they didn't address the problem that actually led to the breach. They're encrypting laptops, but it was backup tapes which were compromised. No mention of those getting encrypted. Yes? And? Your point is?

    The plebs who vote for them don't know the difference and they've been seen to spend 3 million dollars to fix the problem. The problem has therefore been solved, they'll get re-elected...

    Satnavs are a boon for low stress driving. Handling the traffic on top of that is just great. If you do a lot of driving I recommend it heartily. It saves masses of time a load of fuel and best of all, zero stress. Doesn't stop left or right turns, but all of a sudden there are very few traffic jams.

    Next time, please think before posting. If you're 100% sure your original statement is valid, I'll gladly stand corrected and eat a healthy slice of humble pie. I sincerely hope you are not in charge of security in your organisation. With security you have to take the position that you are not secure. That is the default hypothesis.

    It doesn't mention tape drives... It mentions laptops, USB disks, hard disks, PDAs. It doesn't mention tape drives or backups, anywhere. Unless the site, application specifically state that they support backup systems, I have to assume that it doesn't and the system doesn't actually solve the original problem of backup tapes being lost at all.
