yea, if we are going to INVENT possibilities I can think of other interesting ones that are equally unprovable like beings from another dimension to time travelers.
They are unidentified and have flight characteristics we don't understand.
Check and Check.
Worth looking into.
People have to remember that what the "Internet" is, is a collection of privately owned networks connected by mutual free data exchange agreement or by paid agreement.
So, There is nothing stopping something like this from existing. The "Internet" will exist as long as people with their own networks want to connect to others.
I wholly support this sort of thing.
At the same time, there is nothing WRONG (in theory) with two private networks paying each other for access to the other. We get into trouble when the end consumer has no real choice in the marketplace to choose which company best serves their needs.
Net neutrality would not be an issue if we had a REAL competitive marketplace for the consumer at the last mile. If we had THAT then I could simply choose the ISP that has the least restrictive network rules. As it is now, most people have at most 2 options and in many places just 1.
Everybody is talking about what Disney is going to do with all that intellectual property, but what I want to know is what will the 52B be used for at what is left of Fox?
Thatâ(TM)s a LOT of money. What Fox does with it will also be Major unless itâ(TM)s just pocketed by investors and stock holders.
You are of course right, but be careful about criticism regarding TFA. Orthodoxy requires that you say itâ(TM)s great even though itâ(TM)s a recycled movie.
Itâ(TM)s simply not culturally PC to admit TFA was terrible.
As a teen in the 80s I have fond memories of the ground breaking games that made them famous. Games like Archon and M.U.L.E.
To see what they have become over the years. Evil in so many ways is sad.
It would be good if they just dumped the EA and Electronic Arts name completely as there is nothing about the company ethos that even remotely resembles what EA was back in the beginning,
They should be ashamed but that would require some sort of corporate soul that has a sliver of self respect and a sense of who they are other than being the equivalent of the ferrengi in STTNG.
When you look at your computing devices, which one do you use more? MANY people use their smartphone FAR more in terms of time per day than their laptop. In fact, for many people it is THE primary computing device in their lives.
People have no problem spending $3500 for a Macbook. Looking at it from the standpoint above, paying 1K for a smartphone if it's my primary computing device in regards to time used per day does not seem that crazy.
I wonder how much pain Google can endure before it's worthwhile not to be in Europe at all? I'm sure there is a point where it's not worth it.
But exactly where that is I'm not sure.
Looks like Crashplan is going to screw Linux users as Carbonite does not support Linux as far as I can tell.
I have 2TB of stuff backed up to Crashplan. That took me MONTHS to complete.
The real question is going to be, how long before this becomes a requirement on new PC purchases for consumers with Windows pre-loaded? And will consumers cough up the 10 bucks a month or so in addition to the cost of the computer?
It's what everybody does lately.
If you like the minimum wage you'll find a way to trash the original analysis. If you agree that the wage increase depresses hours, jobs and overall pay then you will dismiss any criticism of the original report.
In the end, what matters is what employers actually do. The workers will speak up on their own if it's bad or good. Spin or bias is not going to convince people that their paystub says something different than it actually is (and that it's gone up or down as a result of the new policy)
Actually, funny as your post is one thing that is pretty much true is that modern versions of mainframe OS's (Traditional like zOS or Unisys 2200 for example) are (to my knowledge) not vulnerable to all the malware or viruses that are out there.
A lot of other people (and myself) have combined leave (sick and vacation) hours. I don't use all my leave because you never know when you might be sick, and if you get laid off it's nice to have some extra money that you get by cashing in your excess PTO hours.
What they SHOULD do, is limit the power the computer playing the human can use.
Since the Brain uses around 20W, the computer should be limited to the same. It's not just to keep things kinda even, it's an additional constraint that could drive development of the system.
Well, the "Flying" part might be debatable since that term usually refers to some sort of winged craft that uses the air for lift.

They could easily buy the right to DC as well if the price was right.
Itâ(TM)s not the KGB, that ended when the Soviet Union collapsed. Itâ(TM)s called the FSB.

I only got ripped if it goes below the price I originally paid, or it becomes impossible to do a currency conversion.
Nah...I'll see how high it goes. One prediction is 1M a coin...I think that will net me 200K off of my 5 dollar investment. ;)
Sure...there is a bubble but when will it burst? They have been saying that at 1k, 2k, 3k, 4k....
I bought 5 bucks worth of bitcoin last year... It's now worth $80 bucks (as of this writing). I'm simply floored by how much its gone up!

Could be quite interesting with something like Doctor Who on BBC. That being said, script writing it and filming it would take WAY longer.
Actually, funny as your post is one thing that is pretty much true is that modern versions of mainframe OS's (Traditional like zOS or Unisys 2200 for example) are (to my knowledge) not vulnerable to all the malware or viruses that are out there.
So the number of programmers in Lisp, Forth, and COBOL go down even more. Which will mean I can learn those and make a KILLING in $$$
Money to third world countries tends to go into the pockets of dictators and autocrats.

That's what they said about Mozilla when IE was top browser by percentage, that Mozilla's "day has passed".
I bet that computer couldn't run on 20w!
