While I am concerned with all of that, what I need is a slow, reliable car. I have a tendency to speed and until I can get that in check I need a car that won't go as fast as I want to go (I've topped out at 115 in a diesel 5-cylinder).

    Now that IS stock. whoa.

and I find this thread to be very informative. I want to thank you both for your opinions and suggestions. (: It'll actually be my second Beetle but the first one I get to keep (I wound up selling my first one after six months because JC Whitney took 8 months to get me their catalog so I could order an engine rebuild kit, was so angry too when it arrived in the mail).

Yeah, but the Thing is UGLY. I'm fairly certain a VW Beetle (of the 1968 model year) has no digital anything, either. Or any real electronics to speak of aside from a radio and some crappy speakers.

Don't really have that option. This computer has a pre-loaded restore point that is XP SP1 only. I'm not really wanting to mess with this setup as it provides me the only safety net I've had and with the problems I had when I bought the computer...

The only way to do what you suggest is an install over on the C: leaving the D: as the factory created restore point.

I don't know. As soon as the BSOD comes up, it reboots. Sometimes I don't even see the BSOD except for a blue blink.

Doing it wrong? I was doing it via Windows Update after I had installed all the previous updates. Should I roll back again (not an option, I have the computer setup how I want it) and just install SP3? If so, why does Windows Update even bother me with all the other updates (like SP2)?

You could say it's me doing it wrong, but you'd be wrong. I've done many SP2 to SP3 updates myself and this is the first time I've ever had this problem.

I actually have this problem on a Compaq Presario I bought used. I cannot install SP3 because it sends me into a BSOD at boot time, which causes the machine to reboot which brings me back to the BSOD during boot which causes me to reboot...you get the idea.

Did a system restore back to spec and updated to SP2. Not touching SP3 with a ten foot pole.

steel wire? What century are you living in. All weed eaters (grass trimmers) I've encountered have plastic/nylon line.

True enough I guess. Still, as much energy is put into electric and gas mowers and trimmers, the net gain in efficiency is a lot lower than the power put into it.

A sickle, while made for that, is rather inefficient for cutting grass. It requires the grass to be of a certain length and doesn't work as well on green (wet) grass as it would on dryer grass. If you think about it, while convenient, gas/electric powered mowers are pretty inefficient as well (look at how sharp the blades have to be as well as how fast they rotate to achieve what they do). But what do I know. I've only been mowing yards for 15 years now.
