Maybe this case will make that happen. Would that be so bad?
This case will not make that happen. This is pure protectionism under the guise of patent law and court arbitration. It's no coincidence that Apple is being found guilty of violating Samsung patents in Korea
You are ignoring that in the same verdict, Samsung was found to violate one of Apple's patents. Maybe that should make Samsung supporters think.
If you are going to be a Grammar Nazi you should probably read your own posts more carefully: I expect you meant 'illiterate' - cannot read or write - rather than 'aliterate' - unwilling to read although able to do so. An 'aliterate' person does not seem likely to be reading many blogs, no?
How else would one "read" many blogs if not by not (fully) RTFB. Heck, many people on Slashdot refuse to even read the summary and still post.
Please. ANYONE can come up with wireless technology. It's easy and simple. But NO ONE would ever dream of rubber band bouncing a list if you scroll too far!
You're being ironic, but there are thousands of wireless technology patents from dozens of companies - but nobody did the bouncy scrolling before Apple patented it.
MAD only works when all of the players are rational and sane. It worked for a long time because nobody is willing to pull the trigger, not even dancing monkey boy of the flying chairs, because doing so would be insane.
Enter Apple.
Steve: “Good artists copy, great artists steal. And we have always been shameless about stealing great ideas.”
Too bad you don't know what "steal" means in context. That quote is "stolen" from T.S. Eliot:
One of the surest tests [of the superiority or inferiority of a poet] is the way in which a poet borrows. Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique, utterly different than that from which it is torn; the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time, or alien in language, or diverse in interest.
109 pages of jury instructions, 700 question's to answer no way that can be done in 22 hours less they went in to deliberation with mind set up they were gonna side with apple on about everything. a decent jury would reviewed all the devices in question for each patent and that would take a while.
If the jury had decided differently, you would laud them for their swift choosing the obviously right pro-Samsung answer in each of the 700 questions.
Err, an HD screen on a laptop? Other than the new retina displays, Apple has always had the worst resolution of any given size option. 15", why that will be 1440x720. 1080p? What madness is that, this is a Macbook sir.
They were caught knowingly purchasing stolen goods but got off on the technicality of being part of the "press". It is not supposed to be a license to get out of jail.
Actually, being a member of the press is supposed to help you stay out of jail.
Even judges think so, otherwise we'd be locking up every journalist that published classified documents.
I think your understanding of the First Amendment needs refreshing.
But this was about knowingly buying stolen property and extortion. What's next, Al Capone doesn't even go to jail for tax evasion because he's working for the Chicago Tribune? The anti-Untouchables?
Its a bit difficult to say what the attrition rate would be. Is Chinese military technology good enough to cause harm to significant numbers of F22s?
Chinese military technology is probably good enough to kill all aircraft carriers, tankers aircrafts and air strips nearby - so why should they bother about F22s who can't reach China?
And while Apple and other such companies waste time and resources in the courts, they can spend theirs on research and innovation.
Two things: None of those companies spend much time on these trials - thats what they pay lawyers for.And the money they spend is just lump change (not just for Apple).
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that one. Yep, with your non-Apple laptop, if it's a few years old and the battery either dies or only lasts a short time, you can just go on Ebay and buy a new (aftermarket) one dirt-cheap that'll work just fine. With an Apple laptop, you either keep it plugged in all the time or you throw it in the trash.
Or if you aren't a retard, you get it replaced by Apple.
Then you're just as stuck as the next guy with his CPU soldered onto the motherboard
I mean yea, its so hard to find older CPUs, and older RAM types like RDRAM and DDR2, and older drive standards like IDE...
You should recheck your facts. Finding replacement parts and upgrades for older sockets is stupidly easy.
Errm, that was his point: you are stuck with old CPUs and old RAM - you may make your machine a little faster, but buying a machine two years younger will likely get you much more performance.
Anything which isn't 1/2 or 1/4 of the native resolution isn't going to be very sharp.
Which part of " and to 2880x1800 after a quick hack" did you not understand? The part where this is the native resolution? The part where you thought the native resolution couldn't be displayed very sharp? Or the part where your brain shut off after you read Apple?
Linux is the new "no true Scotsman" case apparently.
It's pretty much been the case that unless the vendor provides support it can be years before a device is truly supported, if ever. I'm sure Apple isn't exactly jumping at the chance to provide the necessary support to help out anyone who wants to install anything other than Mac approved OS changes.
Wait, what support? Why that? I thought Apple used just plain standard PC parts like everybody else?
Police found the iPads using the same method every iPad owner has with Find my iPad
Not true. Did you read the article? They looked at IP addresses and Apple IDs in Apple's DBs when the stolen devices synched to iTunes, then cross-referenced them with ISPs. Find your iPad is a useless toy that disappears with a factory reset.
Aahhh, so he used Jobs AppleID after he wiped the device. Yeah that makes sense.
that's what prophet Jobs called the smaller Samsung tablets when they were announced.
And according to the US sales numbers Samsung had to release during the trial, not only didn't they sell well at all compared to the iPad, they were also outsold by the Tab 10.1s as soon as they came out.
Maybe this case will make that happen. Would that be so bad?

Yes. Won't someone think of the small developers?
Like Samsung.
-- A small developer.
Do enlighten us. How exactly does Samsung "think of the small developers"?

Yep, I am sure that US judges are 100% impartial and there is no protectionism masqueraded as bullshit patents awarded by the US patent office ;)
Samsung has several times as many US patents as Apple.
Apple infringed 2 essential patents, Samsung 1 design patent, apple should have had to pay more.
Wrong, Samsung was cleared of copying design, but infringed the "bounce back" patent.
Other companies not being sued YET. Samsung was just the biggest target
When Apple sued Samsung, it was still an also-ran.
109 pages of jury instructions, 700 question's to answer no way that can be done in 22 hours less they went in to deliberation with mind set up they were gonna side with apple on about everything. a decent jury would reviewed all the devices in question for each patent and that would take a while.

In the end the only true winners, are the lawyers.
Except in a case like this, aren't most of the lawyers already on one or the other company's payroll? If so, they're not getting a cut of the award.
Samsung hired one of the best known law firms Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP. They even have a Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinn_Emanuel_Urquhart_%26_Sullivan.
So at least Samsung's lawyers are not on their payroll.

1440x720? Which notebook has a 2:1 ratio?
Apple hardware performs better
Quick, make a list of "Apple hardware":
Clue: the list will contain no items. Apple computers contain commodity hardware.
So this article should actually be called "Linux doesn't perform well on commodity hardware".
Yes, but Apple have those devices with the amazing high resolution screens, those screens made by some company in Korea - name starts with S I think :)
LG Philips starts with an S now

removable drives are okay until the new drives don't work with the power management system right and drain your battery out.
Ill just leave this little standard called "ACPI" right here.
And problems with ACPI are still common, especially when using Linux.
Because in the same speech Todd Akin said that Android is winning.

What matters is that Fidler's mock up hits so many of the characteristics from Apple's design patent
No what matters is that it doesn't. Which anyone can tell who ahas actually seen the evidence given.
