Second, by announcing to the world that they're for sale they instantly froze the decision process of every corporation that was considering an upgrade to BB10. Why would any customer consider committing themselves to Blackberry for the next 2-5 years when they're not even sure Blackberry would last in (its current form at least) till the end of the year?
or put it another way, a simple switch on a nuclear bomb failed as it fell to earth, rendering it inoperable. doesn't inspire much confidence for when it is used in war.
Well, if you choose to ignore the fact that the US has successfully used two nuclear bombs in war...
I don't care as much about the reliability of bombs used in the past, so much as the reliability of bombs we may use in the future. I'd prefer them to inspire confidence!
btdubs, does anybody know if this switch failure was a safety feature that worked, or a malfunction of a critical piece that was a lifesaver in this scenario?

Second paragraph: ". Note that no other paw pads would unlock the device, and that cats essentially have unique “fingerprints” just like people, so this doesn’t make the Touch ID sensor any less secure."
i don't worry so much about a cat paw fooling the sensor that it is a person's finger print. Just trying to make sure that my two cats won't be able to unlock each other's phones.
toochet. I meant interstellar space. And to the "there's no boundaries, man" guy, there actually is a boundary between Sol and the rest of the galaxy. Look up the termination shock and the heliopause. Their scientific, but what they're essentially saying is that after a boundary the sun runs out of staying power.
true but what sort of mobile apps require a continuous connection? am I watching netflix on LTE while I drive then walking into the house with it? sounds wierd.
I think I get the mechanics of what goes on (switch from LTE to wifi without breaking the connection). Can anybody explain the significance, or how it would improve phone functionality and app functionality? I'm sure there's a killer application, but I don't see it.
In the alternate universe where the US and USSR had thermonuclear war, most of you would never have been born.
I'm 89 years old, you insensitive clod!
Then what am I thinking of? The doomsday device?

I think this concern is overblown.

We think it still can & should be released, to help users retain some value in their mostly devices.
who is we?
you can't lie about something if you don't know the answer! duh!
that's a good point. which things worked right, and which things worked wrong?

the triple fail-safe worked.

I'd be good for someone with actual statistics knowledge to say what the probability of 3/4/5 safeties failing would be.
1/8 | 1/16 | 1/32. I'm a statistical god!

no, it probably would have triggered the doomsday clock and caused armaggeddon.

meh. it's killing people in other countries that gives us the natural resources to spend money on things like space exploration.

Loooooz! I am the key master!
Not the host file, the HOSTS file!! $10,000 challenge!

VEEGOR!!!!
Humans: moon
Robots: intergalactic space.
Humans 0, robots 1.
you could have a mitten with a hole that you poke your finger through. I am having all the answers today!

yes, but only the cat can unlock it! actually i don't know, if one cat is registered can others unlock it as well?
why don't you get those gloves that don't have fingers, or take a glove and cut off one finger?
