    im simply saying that it isnt up to the FCC to decide to ban cell phones (for annoyance purposes), it should be up to the airlines to decide if they want to allow cell phone usage, which would ultimately decide the majority of their clientele.

    the fcc is not responsible for making laws preventing annoyance... they are responsible for safety. it shouldnt be up to the FCC to ban talking on cell phones, it should be up to the airline to decide whether they want to ban talking or not.

    there is no oversight on appointing supreme court justices either. the president is allowed to appoint whoever he wants.

    we have a duty as american citizens to not follow any laws that are unconstitutional. in the case where the government deems laws constitutional that are not constitutional, we have a duty as americans to revolt and fight back against government oppression.

    we should all have a right to disobey court orders and warrants issued from a secret court with no requirements to follow the constitution.

    you clearly dont read the monthly posts from google telling everyone how many requests theyve been asked for and how many theyve given. in ALL instances, where there was a warrant issued (by a secret court with no oversight), google gave up information on people.

    oh sure, they cant give court orders or warrants themselves... they just ask a 'secret court' to do it... we actually have no idea if this 'secret court' even exists. for all we know, the NSA has made it all up and decided to issue warrants on their own. just because the NSA isnt abusing its lack of oversight doesnt mean specific other parts that work with the NSA are not doing so.

    i dont think you understand the underlying problem. American companies CANT say no to the government, because they get shutdown. dont you remember lavabit? he did say no to the NSA, and then they started prosecuting him for not giving them the information they wanted. it isnt really a matter of capitalism. as long as there is no oversight on things like the NSA, there will always be abuse. as long as there is no oversight on the NSA, companies cant really ever deny them access.

    it shouldnt be up to congress to make laws prohibiting these things... it should be up to the specific airline to say if they want to allow people to talk on the plane or not.

    i enjoyed my CS class. now im a CS major. our professor in highschool had an epic way of grading project assignments... there were 4 grade levels up to 100 based on how far you got... and if you went above that, he would assign grades above 100. there was a kid in my class who got a 1000 out of 100 on an assignment... got an automatic A for the class. ( i only got a 200/100 on that project)

    im not talking about simple threaded programs... im talking about things like mmos, where any multi threading is exceptionally difficult, and the vast majority of companies dont even bother to make it work on any more than two-four cores. imagine trying to do that for 1000 cores. the only reason we dont already have absurd processing power is this problem. we can already make incredibly small transistors, we just cant really utilize them.

    spoken like a true non-programmer. you have no idea how difficult it is to actually utilize multiple cores in a large program, do you? using functional languages is great, but what programs actually use functional languages? most programs are done in C, C++ and C#... none of which are functional. there was some recent developments in haskell that may allow it to be utilized within C, which would be of great help... but ultimately what we need the most is a way to easily get parallelism without putting all of the burden on each individual programmer.

    more transistors per unit area on a chip is worthless atm. you can have a million cores on a processor, but it will still be slowed down dramatically due to issues with parallelism. someone needs to find a way to increase parallel processor speed.

    also, they dont car about anyone who isnt directly impeding sales of cars from dealerships. tesla competes directly with the dealerships, by offering cars to consumers without the 30% markup. ford sells cars to dealerships and rental companies, but they never sell directly to the consumers.

    novel idea... but our government doesnt work that way. the winners of elections are almost always the ones who spent the most money during election year (on advertisements and whatnot). guess where they get their money for reelection? hint-from the same people who are buying legislation from them. we cannot remove them from power because too many people in our country vote for whoever they see on tv, or with a party ticket, and dont ever bother actually doing research before voting. the only way to fix the government corruption would be to totally reinvent our government... which cant happen because of the way our government works.

    no, the purpose is to get everyone to go through the car dealerships instead of just selling it themselves. it has nothing to do with a monopoly, the texas dealerships just want to be rich as fuck, so they lobby government into forcing car manufacturers to sell through them. All this ends up doing is making cars 20% more expensive for the buyers than they would be if they were sold directly to the end user.
