  1. Newt on Phoenix To Change Name · · Score: 1

    Newt - small cute and fast!

  2. How to convert the Mrs. on Mozilla 1.2 Unleashed · · Score: 2, Informative

    Well, first off I would suggest you getting her on Phoenix, and not Mozilla.

    1) Phoenix Looks better (and is more costimizable*)
    (*meaning in an easy drag and drop way)
    2) It's faster and doesn't inculde all the rest of the things your wife doesn't use
    (mail/chatzilla/etc.)
    3) Themes... Funny enough as it sounds, this way you can make your wife "feel at home" again.
    4) Stability. For some odd reason Phx, feels a bit more secure than Moz.

    I just converted my girlfriend and her familyover to Phoenix. I understand your pain.
    I'm a mozilla user, (I use mail, chatzilla, all of it) and am so happy with it. But when my girlfriend would get on my computer, she hated it. Saying it respondes slowly, was ugly, etc.
    I then installed Phoenix on her computer, and installed the Qute theme (and LUNA) here;

    Qute , Luna
    (Luna's a copy of IE's interface)

    (my girlfriend loved the Qute theme)

    I loaded it up, changed the Phoenix Icon to
    on her desktop (download the icons here;
    ICON site

    And in 10min, taught her to use Tab browing, (how to save tab groups as a bookmark (great for research), easy searching, and how to costimize her toolbar (drag'n'drop can't be easier). She was hooked.
    At first her impresion was "No, not mozilla please" but within a day, she grinned at me and said "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually really like it allot better than IE)

    This coming from a 20year girl who's studying Finances. I was pleased!

    My next step is to teach her Mousegestures, that will definitally get her hooked (no way going back after that).

    For all type of way to custimize Phoenix I recommend you start here;

    Cheers, and hope this has helpes you out with your convert!! =)

  3. It's still being updated. on Can We Finally Ditch Exchange? · · Score: 1

    Just today it was updated.. check out
    www.mozillazine.org for more information.

    If you go into teh BUgzilla and check out the latest bugs/fixes, you will see a huge amount of work being done. True, not much is there at the moment. But it's just getting off it's feet and running. If you dig even deeper into bugzilla you will fine postings that the ultimate goal is to make Mozilla Calendar on par or even better than exchange. Just remember, we need to get there first (baby steps).

    Also, 2 articles down on mozillazine states that OEONE is in partnership now with openoffice. The future could be bright.

  4. Hand Gestures.. 2nd Nature on Mouse Gestures in Mozilla · · Score: 1

    I don't understand why people are complaing!
    First of all this is an "Optional" download for Mozilla, has nothing to do with mozilla.org.

    Secondly, seems people are ranting without even trying it. I always thought mouse gestures were stupid.. But once I tried it.. I changed my mind.

    Basically, when I'm browsing, I'm leaning far back in my chair (probably bad for my back), looking back-&-forth between my TV and laptop.. Since my hands are away from the Keyboard, Gestures make my life so much esier. Plus, so much faster.. instead of having to go up and click on the File Menu, (or reach over to the keyboard), I just hold my middle maouse button, and Draw a S or T (for tabs).. and Voila!! I'm ready...

    Very easy, and very natural movments.. I really reommend peopl try it out. (just remember, this is version 0.1.4... has a long way to go.

    Cheers

  5. Missing the point on Learning Java Through Violence · · Score: 1

    I think everyone is missing the point of this!
    Hell yeah, cool that you know other similar games exist, and for the last 20 years there have been similar games. So what!! Most of the are outdated, or simly not used very much these days.
    But thats not the point.

    This is not a game to compete with the others,
    This is simily a Robot game, made for use with JAVA, and for programing in JAVA!

    I find it very fun, and usefull. Why? Because its a real language, one Im currently learning in school, and its new. Mat has big plans for the game. It already has a huge userbase behind it, and its only 3 months old.
    Im happy many of you have other such games, Im just glad there is now one made for Java, and crossplatformed.

    Actually, this week Im starting to organize a Semester long Tournament starting from now until the end of November for those interested in my Campus who are taking the Java Class..

    This is great I hope others are enjoying it as much as myself!

    cheers
