I Disagree. Publically funded research is essential because there are many fields that private companies would not research (ironically, like climate change) and where monetary interests influence the results. The main problem here is that it seems that there are no checks in place to prevent (obvious) influence from eg. lobbying groups, or prevent bogus research from being funded (like the "only cyclic" climate change that is the topic here)
well... for population control (which would reduce ressouce need) there is nothing better than having people either starve, kill each other or die of dissease (black death) - or preferably all-in-one.
If I write something wrong dont flame me, I am just a guy who reads various news and by no way any expert.
Essentially SystemD is not just doing a startup script runner but does way more in terms of system management, mostly based on existing kernel features (cgroups to name one). As far as I understood it that allows - as an example - for way better ressource management and control (because processes cant escape *hrhr*).
The main grief that people express is that SystemD decided to implement startup scripts as native code rather than scripts (though sysVInit scripts are supported) for various reasons (eg. because shell script sucks to read (can relate) and explicitly expressed dependencies for parallel starup) which other people think is bad for other various reasons (because its not "easily editable" without a compiler... though what normal user edits his startup scripts anyway)
Can anyone tell me what October 18, 8 pm to Saturday October 19, 1 am (Eastern Time). is supposed to be in UTC so people might actually be able to calculate their local downtime-frame?
at night when the normal busses dont travel any more you can call a special cab which picks you up at a bus station and drops you off anywhere you want (in the city limits) for a fixed price. However here the lead time is much longer (30 minutes).
and doesnt sound like any of those security measures is any new... heck, even the not-even-5€ lunch vouchers I get at work have color-shifting ink, watermarking and a "3d" surface...
after all that's roughly how current it is... I remember learning about these topics in bio (slime mold) and physics (quantum computing) back in high school (or rather the equivalent in my country), and the material was already some years old - and already claiming "10 to 15 years"... well, that timeframe was over last year iirc
3 rules - stay interested in anything and everything - strive for simplicity, clarity, beauty, transparency (that also includes your progress when you develop stuff for someone) - concepts, not implementation details (eg. understand OOP, not what the exact syntax for defining an object in language X is)
everything else is just details. Nobody should care about Language A vs. Language B or SQL vs. NoSQL as long as you pick what fits.
sorry, but looks like any boring blog from a default template how about smaller, incremental updates (like finally cleaning up the border-madness in the comment section a little bit) instead of trying to break everything at once?
And why not just tear them down entirely? that scrap metal surely is worth something... I dont remember seeing any phone booth here for ages -> all dismantled in the early 2000s
I call bullshit on that. This gets esp. clear once you have a look at non-consumer cars which are easily 25% cheaper with the same features. Also did you check what the price of an inbuilt gps is? I can assure you the tech is not worth close to 1k €... that's just pure greed.

because GCHQ, MI6 and all the cameras in london are not cheap!

I second this notion. How else does one actually want to guarantee FRAND?
As if anybody gives a crap ... esp. anyone outside the US
and what is if my intent is to give the world some seriously awesome amateur porn?

crank the volume to the max to get heated earphones? ;)
is that the diameter, the radius or the length?
"3mm" ... nuf said
considering the current NSA scandal...

a cubic foot is close to 30 litres, 2 pints are 1 litre, so you have a 30:1 ratio which is 3.3...%
a cubic foot is around 30 liters (0.03 m^3) and 2 pints is around 1 liter (or 0.001 m^3) ... so in short you have a 30:1 ratio dirt water

seriously, barely smaller than a tincan and starting at 13k? Wtf is wrong with you car people?
it is simply breaking the dominance where "stuff on the internet" means in 99% of all cases that stuff is in the US or at least under US jurisdiction
