Umm there has been popular music since there has been music.
But did any of them really inspire those great people or maybe they just enjoyed them.
And yes they are just entertainers, of all the art forms I can really only think of one that can really lay claim to really inspiring great advancements and that is the written word.
Music is just entertainment if you enjoy it then good for you but entertainers don't really change the world, they do not advance the human race, they just entertain. That is a good thing and they can be very skilled at what they do but so can a plumber or barber.

I sure didn't. What law was broken? Even the DMCA has previsions for stuff like this.
There is no legal question about this or as far as I can tell with Apple changing it to stop it except that it is just ugly.
Palm should work with Songbird and other music players to add sync for the Palm. "Yes I know about the mass storage device option". Maybe Songbird needs to work a deal with Amazon to also intergrate the Amazon music store into Songbird as well.

Apple should allow others to sync with iTunes. Apple didn't invent the idea of syncing they pretty much copied Palm on that idea. The iTunes Store is the biggest music vendor in the US so tying it in any way to one device does seem to smell of anti-trust. Apple would be wise to open up. BTW Apple is the biggest music retailer in the US! I can no long buy the line that the iTunes store doesn't make that much money and it is only there to help sell hardware.
But nothing has been done that is in any way illegal. Silly maybe but not illegal.

Actually those where the lines to a song by Rush. But a great artist? Maybe art is really entertainment. We all to often forget that fact. People talk about how they are so inspired by this or that artist but inspired to do what?
Tell me what songs inspired Jonas Salk, Robert Goddard, Niels Bohr, and Martian Luther King?
I enjoy good music as much as the next person but this really is just entertainment to call them a God is just silly. Bob Geldof, Paul David Hewson, Danny Kaye, and several others have done things worth of admiration in IMHO as well as being very good entertainers but it is what they do in addition to entertaining that makes them worth remembering. But lets face it Brian Eno is just an entertainer if you enjoy his work that is nice but over all he is no more important to the world than your barber.

Actually I think that it isn't all that hard to travel outside of Iran for Iranians or own satellite TV systems. I think the current government has pushed to the limits of it's control and that the people are pushing back.
Will Iran be free? Well that depends on how free is free. In the US we have a very high standard for freedom of political speech. We have less protection on things like nudity and language.
In some EU countries they have more protection on things like nudity but less on political speech. For instance there are countries where printing books that say the holocaust didn't happen is illegal. While part of me loves the idea of not seeing that kind of trash it is still political speech.
Different countries have different ideas of just how free they want to be. In the US we seem to feel that the best protection is get the ugly ideas out into the light and them them wither.
Other nations because their history is different have different ideas. I am sure that a lot of people think that letting Hitler ever publish anything for ever speak any place was a terrible idea.

Well the logical thing IMHO is after the first year you put in a new drive and do an array rebuild after making a backup.
Drives are really cheap and I would do that for as long as the array is in use.

Not perfect but it keeps you from having an array of old drives in your server.
