My sister took her little girl to that if it is the one in Orlando. They liked it. Too bad really Orlando is fun but it really doesn't give you much of the feeling of what the US or Florida is really like. A lot of it is just a giant tourist trap. But just like Vegas if you have money you will never be board. Oh when you got to KSC make sure you go to the Saturn V exhibit.
Well if you have your wife with you and your yungish I would suggest a trip to Ron Jons surf shop. It is the worlds largest surf shop and is right on Cocoa Beach, my wife loves it. Also they have nice beaches around there as well. I grew up south of there in Vero Beach FL. My family used to run up to the Merit Island mall twice a year. Back to school shopping and Christmas shopping. It also had the first Arcade I ever saw. I played Lunar Lander there:) Yes I am old. My guess you are going to land in Orlando. I just had some people from the UK here for training. They where shocked by the distances here. Orlando is about a two hour drive from KSC depending where you are in Orlando. Try to get to KSC early since we often have afternoon thunder showers this time of year. In fact is pooring right now.
SSL certs are a great source of revenue. Why would someone want to make a free one. To create a free one you would have to get Microsoft to agree. They would never do that for say Mozilla "which would a logical choice to do this." I don't think Microsoft would do it for Google. It is a way to print money. I wonder just how much revenue Microsoft and or Mozilla get from the different CA root Authorities?
Funny but I have no fear of flying at all. I wonder if that has to do with the fact that the first flight I remember was with my dad in Piper PA-128-180. A little four seat puddle jumper. I hope you have a nice stay here. It is hot and humid. Kennedy Space Center is a must see.
Don't worry. I have flown a lot and nothing terrible has ever happened. I don't know where you are flying into but let's say it is Miami. If the ATC for Miami airport goes down they can have you divert to Fort Lauderdale West Palm, Tampa or Orlando. If the ACT center goes down Patrick AFB, McDill AFB, Cape Canaveral AFS, or Key West NAS could take over using military systems. If the weather is clear which it often is in Florida then it really isn't a big issue at all. If the weather is terrible there are alternate airports and Military bases you could divert to. Rotten time to be coming to Florida. It is hot and humid here this time of year. Winter is when we have the nice weather.
Not really. I don't even have that much of a problem with the merchandising to be honest. What I have a problem is with the illusion that this movie has some deep meaning and value. That we should take it's message to heart.. "all the while buying the Shirts, towels, DVDs, and toys". It was an entertaining movie. It was even a good movie. It was even visually spectacular in places. Deep? Meaningful?.... It was OK.
And exactly which ones didn't know that Walle was going to be marketed to death? How many other Pixar movies have not been marketed to death. Show me one of the "artists" that have said that they don't think that people should buy Walle toys, towels, and or happy meals? Please they don't care because it is a paycheck. To think any different is just silly. Oh it is not beyond their control. They don't have to work there.
Yes but it doesn't play MarioKart, Mario Galaxy, BoomBlox, or Wii Fit. And it cost more than my HDDVD and my Wii combined. I may get one someday because my wife loves SingStar.
Nope but a console playing DVDs is sort of like an appliance that has a clock display. There are so many that it is no longer an important feature. My PS/2 Plays DVDs. My DVD player plays DVDs, My HDDVD player plays DVDS "It was cheap", and my XBox plays DVDs. I need the Wii the wii to play DVDs..... Now if it could play Divx from a network share that would be useful.
Nope they are true rockets burning Liquid Oxygen and Alcohol. They do use jet propulsion but all rockets do. They just don't use turbojets or turbofans.
Nope the very same people that decided to make the movie, approved the script, and paid for it are merchandising it for all that is worth. The people that made it work for a company that has merchandised every movie they made to death and they made it knowing that this one would also be merchandised to death. There is no real separation unless Pixar is outsourcing to another planet.
Obviously the ship had the resources to build just about anything. But now we are getting to the level of can Superman beat up the Hulk. IMO it was good. Not great. So far my favorite has to Monsters Inc. I do love Cars as well. But I still feel it is not all that original.
You and everybody else seem to miss one thing. I didn't say this was a bad movie. Just not great. I thought it was ok.
As to the message. Well maybe it is because I have watched. All the Planet of the Apes. Solent Green. Roller Ball. "the first one" Logan's Run. Mad Max. And the movie one reminds me the most of. Silent Running. To me there was very little new or original with movie. I have seen enough movies in my life that I guess that it is just a lot harder to trick me into thinking the story is original.
As I have said time and time again. Good just not great.
What really bugged me was if we could build starships that could run themselves for 700 years why didn't they keep building new robots to clean up the earth? Eva was a marvel why where there not millions of Eva style robots restoring the planet? Frankly it should have been an Eden by now with that tech.
Yea I was just thinking. This a Silent Running II. What happened after the Valley Forge blew up. Maybe that is why I didn't think it was great. It all seemed way to familiar to me.
I enjoyed it but I do like auto racing. The amount of research they did show that they really seemed to care about the subject. Things like the King being Richard Petty's Superbird and Doc being a Hudson Hornet. The fact that a lot of the buildings in Radiator Springs are based on real buildings on Route 66 I also enjoyed. I found the characters likable and the movie over all was fun. Not deep but if I want deep I will watch a great movie like Judgment at Nuremberg or Gentleman's Agreement. If Walle was a life changing moment for anybody then they really need to see more movies. The thing is I don't think Walle was a bad movie. I just don't think it was great. I would rank it as good.
"I find it really funny that you think the people who wrote this story and brought it to life are the same people who want to milk the franchise for all it's worth." The people that wrote and brought this story to life are employees of Pixar and Disney. Pixar and Disney are already are merchandising this for all that it is worth. I find it really funny that you can separate the two.
We could do a lot better. The Aluminum/Li alloys work well for the Shuttle ET. Electronics are better by far. NASA developed and improved F1 called the F1A before the end of Apollo. Build a Saturn Vi using Aluminum/Li, the F1A, J2s for the second and third stage, and modern electronics. Build a Saturn 1bi with a Single F1A for the first stage. I HATE going backwards and I would like to see an improved shuttle but NASA isn't going to get the funding to do that right.
You see I just wasn't that thrilled with it. The main reason was the "message". Yes I am all for "taking care of the planet" but at the same time I am tired of being beat over the head with it. I find it really funny that Disney/Pixar is making out "mega marts" as the root of all evil. Then putting out Walle happy meal toys, and selling Walle everything at Walmart. Was it a good movie yes. Was it beautifully done? Yes. Was it a heavy handed morality story? I would just rate it as good. I really enjoyed Cars a lot more.
Yea just what we need another law. Sorry but I do work for a living at a small to medium sized software company. The amount of rules that we have to deal with is already mind numbing. Tell me what benefit does making the companies through law publish these specs have for the average citizen or consumer. Simple answer is pretty much none at all. I am not a libertarian or free market extremist but in this case let the market take care of it. Buy your video cards from ATI.
That is very differnt than a mandate. I am all for supporting hardware manufactures that support Linux. I am even all for supporting hardware manufactures that support FOSS. What I am not for is a mandate "law" that requires it. That is a totally different thing.
What do you work for LG? Apple has not gone after the sites that tell you how to get OS/X running on a PC. If you don't like Apple then don't use their products. Or learn to code and make Linux a better desktop than OSX
You know what I find most interesting. I was saying that I found the CVS and number issues to be none issues and that I think Linus is doing Ok. The comment about the drivers seems to really grab people where they live. The thing is that in my comment I said that it wasn't my call. Wow it is funny how that polarizes people.
My sister took her little girl to that if it is the one in Orlando.

Of course if the shut down usenet would anybody notice?
I so miss the days when usenet was useful.
