Actually, of all the OSs I've used (OSX included) Windows has been the longest to setup. With OSX you just buy a Mac and done. With Linux, you boot to disk, push next a few times, it runs and you're done. I honestly don't know what Windows does when it's installing, but it takes forever (Win7/8 included).

You do realize this is exactly how science works, right? You look at the world, then you come up with a hypothesis which has conclusions (like this creature). You then test the conclusions (in this case look for it in the fossil record). If you find it, you can move to the theory stage. If a competing hypothesis (yes those exist) finds theirs instead, they get to move on to the theory stage.

What? Where are there cattlemen in the US on public lands? All the ones I know privately own pasture land for the grazing. Also, while private ownership of tiny plots is rather rare, private ownership of very large plots is less rare.

Sadly, this would just end us up in the same situation we're in now. The enforcers would continue to get more powers as they are "necessary for enforcement". Eventually you'd end up right back where we are now, with a government that controls anything it damn well pleases.

It's about history. Microsoft was in the smartphone market long before Apple and Google. People bought Windows CE phones sparingly (because it sucked). Apple brought the iPhone to market and suddenly smartphones were important. Eventually Microsoft came out with WP7, and... it sucked too. I actually know a few people who returned their WP7/WP7.5 phones to the carrier for an Android because you just can't do shit with them. Windows 8 is almost worse. I think their history (beginning with Windows CE) demonstrates pretty clearly that Microsoft has no clue what's going on with the mobile market.

I disagree. First, it's obvious Cannonical's vision with Ubuntu Phone is to eventually do what Motorola tried to do with the docking station. This would turn a Ubuntu Phone into a Ubuntu "general purpose computer". Plus, I'm really hoping the phone/tablet market goes the way of the PC market and starts having more free/unlocked versions, where a general purpose configuration would do well.
