Well, are there laws against journalists checking their facts before publishing? The Emotion Engine was developed jointly with Toshiba in Japan, by Japanese engineers and will be fab'd at a new plant in Japan.
The design for some of the supporting video chipsets is done in America.
The stupid politicians in D.C. should get their facts straight or else f**k off. They're screwing their own companies...
Yeah sure, OS/2 is at 1.1.8 and even faster. But the 1.1.6 implementation wasn't exactly crawling either! It was already at the speed where a good P120 wouldn't have too many complaints about Java app speed.
He forgot to mention OS/2! It's like Adam West, OS/2 _always_ get typecast as the dead OS and can't get a decent job anywhere. (Or maybe it's the "undead" OS)
Damn it! Oh well, it still lives on my machine! (At least until GNOME or KDE or somebody gets their act together). Spending half an hour configuring the compile and waiting for it the compile just to get sound card support in is not my idea of fun!
Why don't you try it? VAJ 2.0 Entry Edition for Windows and OS/2 are free for the download. It is completely functional and good for developing smaller projects.
As to VA Smalltalk, I'll have to disagree. I got a CDROM from IBM and installed it clean and simple on my PC. Period. I rather liked it, so I'm not sure which version you had in your hands.
No way! IBM's JVM on OS/2 is _the_ fastest hands down, it even beats out Sun's HotSpot, which is impressive in its own right. Seeing as IBM has already done its own JVM for Windows now, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Linux JVM from IBM sometime...
Neither. Just pick yourself a $20 Casio scientific. I know, I recently finished my Masters in EE and I can tell you that all throughout undergrad and grad school, you do NOT need an HP48. It is very cool to have (I have one!) but not only is it un-needed, it doesn't even really make your life easier.
Mebbe you should come up to visit Canada sometime (without your gun!) You've got to stop applying America to Canada. If I were down south, I probably might feel the need to have a side arm with me at all times. However, up here in the Great White North, I don't know anyone around here who has a gun or feels that they need to have one to defend themselves.
Use 'em for hunting if you want. Use 'em for target shooting. But in either case, there's no need to have them loaded while in your house.
BTW, what the hell is a Canuck? I just know I'm one of 'em...
They also spat out beta drivers for AWE64 on OS/2 and then sat on them forever without releasing anything. In my experience, they just waffle around and do whatever appears to be popular at the moment. If there's a bug, they never seem to keen on fixing it. Seem to always blame something else. If I recall correctly, there was also a minor little war going back and forth when they were trying to blame IBM for lack of SB drivers somehow... They have no concept of loyalty to customers, unlike other companies I know, which are much more deserving of my support!
Only in the best case, if Linux does take over the world, then Creative will have _no choice_ but to support it. But otherwise, watch out!
No, I'm serious. Supposedly OS/2 Warp Server is SMP enabled for up to 64 CPU's (but optimized for 8 CPU). I _know_ OS/2 is really only out for x86 CPU's, so where is IBM getting these boxes to test it on?
Yes, at one time, OS/2 was Microsoft's baby too. You can still find the famous clip on the net where Bill proclaims OS/2 as the future.:)
And yes, if Office were available for OS/2, it would be a big reason not to use Win95. That's why even though Word and Excel were both out for OS/2, it was canned after about v3.0
That's just plain wrong. Microsoft had release versions of Word, Excel... for OS/2. At the latest version ( I think equivalent to v3), it was a PM application, not the old text mode stuff.
Dude, do you even know what you're talking about? Why would you want to use a Bose-Einstein condensate for a switch? Cause it sounds cool?

Yes it is. You still need the other supporting chips (which my company will happily sell :).
I don't see the big deal. This is Gigabit Ethernet over COPPER and is short range. Gigabit Ethernet over fibre has been around a while.
