I'm afraid tor is safe against that.because it's traffic crosses borders that NSA cannot. And you can manually adjust hop count if you're too paranoid(developers advise not to; because it only degrades performance).

That is not always possible, there are cpu intensive applications that transcode video or maipulate images and have lots of assembly code here and there. It's not as easy as clicking on the recompile button.

  10. Re:Numbers say they don't on Motorola Is Listening · · Score: 0

Security researchers do a lot of testing on a device to make sure if it sends the same data with a legit certificate and a forged one, they test packet length, timing, cpu and memory usage, data enteropy, disk/sd activity, etc. I'm not a security researcher nor had any cryptography related jobs, but have read lots of papers on the topic and I'm sure it can be verified if the device changes its behaviour if it detects unussual behaviour. It may be hard, but not too hard to be considered impossible.

I don't let anyone with an apple device in my room or touch my network because they are usually too unintelectual to even know what privacy is and don't have a clue why i call them iSheeps or whatever. But you're damn wrong about this one because it can be verified with minimal security knowledge and there are always good security researchers out there that use insecure devices including apple iDevices. They already found this, even if it's too late.
