Good point, but I don't think the Guardian got the gist across to David Cameron (see Slashdot reference of today). Perhaps the Guardian should have used even shorter words.
I agree. I really have a hard time worrying that adults won't be able to find erotica e-books on the internet if they aren't available at Amazon. Like, adults are so bad at finding other types of pornography.
So, the problem with the education data systems where the teachers have to input data is that teachers make mistakes? This is still better than the system discussed with for example, ipads. The more you put on the ipad, the less there is for the teacher to lose. I still don't want the poor kids to have their lives on the ipad. Hey, my son got a D in 8th grade English some years ago because he wrote journal entries shared only with the teacher all year, and then at the end of the year, he was supposed to present them to the entire school. Nope. He didn't want to share. Nowadays, he would have no choice. Ow.
Ow. I was happily reading the comments without heading over to the Beta site because I'm a chicken, but I clicked on your link and now I think I'm going to puke.
Hi, I'm not an expert but I believe the PODS are for delivering insulin, and have small needles. The systems for monitoring glucose have larger needs and cost more money. Informally, I've heard they can be kept in a week, but are no fun to insert.
Yes, it's nice it has a continuous glucose monitor. Oh yeah, continuous glucose monitors are pretty bad at detecting when you've gone hypoglycemic (delays up to 30 min or more possibly because they monitor interstitial fluid glucose levels, not blood glucose levels)
Instead of blaming homosexuals (Pat) or liberals (Rush) for all the problems in the world, what this country needs is a new advocate who has really found the immoral evil lurking in our society: privacy advocates.
Gee, Pat and Rush have done plenty of damage without full governmental backing. Can't wait to see what damage Mr. Baker will cause with his twisted rhetoric.
It's fascinating how heated up people get when someone criticizes the way they raise their children. The Slate author was provocative on purpose, to get people thinking. Should you patronize inner city groceries so that people with fewer transportation options can get fresher, better food? In this case, many people would say, yes, I'd like to do that, so long as I'm not inconvenienced too much. But talk about the kids and boom. Lots of angry comments.
Personally, I send my kids to both, so I guess I'm evil. But I've been called that before.
Great as the comment is, "manifestations of hubris, which occur much more frequently in men than women, are commonly mistaken for leadership potential" cannot be the reason for so few women in IT because there is equal or greater hubris in the medical sciences.
Some other reason must be at play. Let me think, maybe the work is dull?

About what GCHQ and MI5 and the NSA are going to end up doing to the Guardian editor and journalists? This is not the end of their troubles.
I read the Wall Street Journal, or at least the headlines. It is interesting to see what issues the people who only care about money care about today.

Just today I saw an article that the FBI authorizes informants to commit 5,000+ illegal activities/year. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/08/04/fbi-informant-crimes-report/2613305/ Could there be a connection? Gee, I'm sure it's all in our best interests.
