Okay Bryan (who's first name is the same as mine). Scenario [2] is freaky but could destroy the caps. But I still say that if you take bare 110V AC wires and shove 'em into the case you're not likely to blow 16 freakin caps.
6 or 8 maybe. Maybe. Personally I don't think 16 caps blew. Not without a fire that would make it impossible to tell caps from resisters from diodes, etc.
Well I am an EE expert. And you're right. It's not the cables. I wouldn't expect that many caps to fry if I soldered every pin on the cable connector together.
In the current economic climate there exists at least a half a dozen energy related companies that make close to or more than a billion dollars a month. They will provide you with an office. I know. They provide me with two.
..places to sign up. Places to tell them of technical problems. No place to tell them "gee, I would sign up but you don't friggin' support me".
whoops..I meant to type.sig not.sigg
Aol / Time Warner only wants to control what you see. They don't care a whit what format you see it by as long as they don't pay carrying charges to a dominant format (i.e. M$). They are therefore interested in seeing competition in the format arena.
Ever try to make radio signals work over fiber? It doesn't work!
B.S. Hyper-Light-Speed can be transmitted over fiber. I learned that as a junior EE back in '81.
But then you usually agree with me. Missed you when you left HotWired and they lost a frequent visitor to their site for it. Found you in a article in my Rolling Stone (one of the few paper rags I get delivered). I must say you're finding more appropriate medium. Or times change.... whatever.
I especially liked "the views I least likely want to read..." line. I may borrow that quote.
Well I agree with 'im, and my time is worth plenty to those that fill my bank account. I work on NT. I use Linux for my home network. And my home clients are the most demanding.
I cut my teeth on Slakware many moons ago. I've run Redhat. I've run Debian. I've run Caldera. I have a system that is M$ free and I'm much much better now. That is the bottom line.

A man undressed in front of a prostitute, and due to his size she laughed "Who are you gonna please with *that*?"
He replied, "Me."

Define static. My IP hasn't changed in 6 months. It may however change tomorrow since it's not up to me.
After years of programming VB for money I got a gig hacking perl for a little less money. I still come out ahead... my bar bill is less.

Amen to those hearty and needed comments.
I wonder what birds flying through my data would look like? Fog I know, I see that all of the time.

Yeah but it's still way cool.
...before I trust that man with my cyber-wallet.

My double oven opening will just about (with shims) accomodate a 19 inch rack. The fridge still keeps the beer cold.

I especially agree with the 'dumbest' part.
