Oh no, attention to minute detail, and getting pedantic little panties a'bunched is one of the hallmarks of geekdom -- second only to a delusional sense of personal exceptionalism.
Argentina in the 50's was also on track to become a first world developed nation -- with GDP per capita on par with that of France (and ahead of Germany!) =( Considering the lack of bombed out factories, a missing generation of working age men, what happened exactly?
Well, the reality is that any weapon you *can* develop, eventually someone else will, as well. Which is the flaw in your argument. IT doesn't matter if you develop it or not, it will be invented somewhere, sometime, by someone..
So really, the goal is to get there *first*, so you have the first-comer advantage, and can hopefully dissuade the other guy from using it on you.
option A: moderate toxicity/radioactivity for (hundreds of) thousands of years option B: EXTREME toxicity/radioactivity for decades
To me it seems a no brainer that option B makes infinitely more sense. The proliferation risks are honestly marginal, considering the alternatives. (increasing reliance on coal, or a never ending stockpile of option A. (So much of it in fact we're considering boring a hole in a goddamn mountain to stuff it into.)
The actors who'd be interesting in getting their hands on high level radioactive waste to cause mayhem would most likely be too inept to use it, and kill themselves in the process. The ones would be capable of putting it to use, probably have access to conventional weapons that would do more damage (consider a 'dirty' bomb vs a hijacked aircraft, or the type of bomb used in Oklahoma City.)
Yar, from what I've heard is that there is basically an underground ring that trades in these sorts of things -- not too dissimilar from the 'carding' groups. And, many different sources makes sense. File names in particular -- some are time stamps, others random characters. Pictures taken with a variety of phones (not all of which were iPhones etc.
Because the Chinese are the best bogeymen since the fall of the USSR. And with the Chinese having a robust economy, the US military industrial complex can keep debting away forever.
Thanks for pointing that out in a completely non-condescending or stupidly myopic manner! Of course you can call the card issuer, or write a a letter.
As stated though, the main problem with these fraud cases is: when a debit card is involved, your bank account is *temporarily* drained. Which can lead to a bit of a headache.
Well if it's a debit card, if i'm not mistaken, the onus is on YOU to produce proof that the charges weren't fraudulent. But mainly, while everything is pending, your money is gone. It may only be temporary, but you can't pay bills with IOU's.
Musk. Definitely. At least the manifestations of Musk's ego will (potentially) lead good things. Bezos just seems like he wants his company to be a monopoly in all the things.
Ah, for moi growing up in Eastern OR, late 90's -- ICQ was the most popular for a long, long time, until being supplanted by AIM (aol instant messenger)
The problem has always been that in games audio (sound tracks withstanding) is seen basically as a gimmick. A few games do it well, but for most, it's an afterthought.
The selling point has been, and always will be, graphics. Some reasons: Humans are predominantly visual, magazine based reviews can't demonstrate audio (this is changing due to youtube and other video reviews), lack of audio hardware that WORKS properly (IE; a sound card that processes EAX/positional audio, speakers to take advantage of it, and non-shitty drivers.. Fuck you Creative.)
This will not change until things like the Occulus rift become more mainstream; and shitty, non directional audio is the new bottleneck for immersion.
If people aren't too uptight, cards against humanity is great. Mario kart (any version) trivial pursuit
subjective lists are awesome! If you don't know your friends well enough to know what they like, you have other questions you should be delving into first:)
If comcast wants to have monopoly power, if they want to act like a monopoly.. We should turn them into a monopoly. A government owned, government run, public service monopoly.
Or threaten to carve them up like Ma Bell.
Dollars to doughnuts they'd start playing nice as far as competition goes, post haste. Either way, we as consumers win.
Not all states are economic equals. Should kids unfortunate enough to be born in MS start out with even more of a disadvantage relative to the kids born in MN or MA? I'm not generally in favor of schemes to distribute income along 'social' lines -- but attempting to keep the states competitive with each other in terms of education is not necessarily a bad thing. (methodology is another debate entirely.)
Hypothetically speaking, if the states were left completely on their own, libertarian jerkoff fantasies aside; you'd see wealth and human capital accumulate on the coasts, and the rest of the country falling to pieces...
In this completely hypothetical and pretend example, education would continue to get worse in the interior. Short of being able to provide unskilled manual labor, they'd lose the ability to 'compete' with the better educated areas, and fall further and further behind.
Well, glucose in the blood is basically a toxin; by overfeeding carbohydrates you're really just taxing the bodies ability to cope with blood sugar (IE, insulin spikes and making you fatter).
The brain has its own needs, and will take what it needs basically no matter what. Not enough dietary carbohydrates to provide glucose? No problem, some of your muscle (or protein from our diet) is broken down and converted by the liver. Bear in mind the amount of glucose the brain needs per hour, and the fact that at any given time you have around 2 teaspoons of glucose circulating... the body is very very (very) good at preventing the brain from running out.
Yes, I think one could make the case that police and politicians are some species besides human.

Well now that Heisenberg is no more, has your crime rate dropped at all?
Mario Brothers did it first. clearly these are goombas.
The Terry Gilliam version?

insert joke about there being no linux desktops, and the eventual "year of linux on the desktop" ?

Heh a Mavica.. Methinks the file size and or image quality would result in pre-blurred photos. :)
