Does Google even look at your meta tags? I think that the only way Google indexes your pages into their database is by reading the acctuall text on the page and seeing what other pages link to you and how that link is described.
How is Teoma attached to ask.com (ask jeeves)? When you get search results all the results are linked to this server: http://tm.wc.ask.com/ Did ask.com buy out teoma?
If you download Morpheus v3.3.3.1 (the new version) then you might notice that it now runs off the GPL license! Morpheus is now opensource! The doc legal.txt says that the source code is available from their site but there is no link up there yet, the only way to obtain the source code so far is to follow the little link that says sourcecode in the mainpage of morpheus when it boots up.
Netscape invented the Blink tag, it was not an official tag included in the w3c reccomendation for what ever HTML version. Both IE and NS invent their own tags that aren't supported by every browser.
I'm suprised no one has mentioned this yet. Check out the last set of pictures on the bottom of the page, some interesting stuff going on between those two girls. Would you classify that under Slinky porn? If I build my own "World's Longest Slinky" is that the kind of people I should expect to attract with it?
I was troubled by the same problem. Nice to finally find a solution! Altough my system usually only hung when the system was doing certian things, playing games, watching movies, somtimes even playing mp3s.
I guess these types of changes were really bound to come sooner or later, and we all want to see slashdot grow and this is apparently best for the site's growth. As far as having these HUGE banner ads, I dont think it's sooo bad, we'll get used to them eventually. I hated when slashdot first displayed the banners on the top of all pages, but I've grown pretty used to it and i acctually often pay attention to it! So as long as we dont start seeing any flash advertisements (god save us all) on slashdot, I think we will all survive:) The nav bar however, I have a little problem with... ITS UGLY AS HELL! cant we get a prettier navbar like they have over at freshmeat.net? With significant changes like this coming up I think it would be a great idea to give/. a whole new look. I think it's really time for a redesign, I'm sure alot of people out there would HATE this idea, I kind of like this look too and wouldn't like to see it go totaly, but I think it's time for a change.
Forbes sent out close to a million, but they were only one company that distributed these devices. Wired also sent out one of these to their subscribers. Radio Shack proboly distributed millions in their stores also. And I'm sure there are many more companys who did the same. Just the other day I ordered and a free USB cue cat from IBM's site. Do I need it? No. But why not take it for free? I may find some use for it in the future. Thats proboly the line of thinking for a lot of geeks who never throw anything away, including the Cat. But what about all the other people who received them in the mail? Most Cats proboly never made it past the kitchen garbage can.
Personally I would like to see someone come up with an alternative casing for the Cue:Cats, the whole "mouse" idea is pretty lame. I'd like just a plain old off white or black box. It would be great for a small buisness, school, or hobbiest who doesnt want to shell out the cash for a commercial product.
Exactly what is line of site? If I wanted to use this method to bridge two wireless networks together would I acctually have to be able to see both antenna's when I stood by the other, meaning no tree's or anything could be obstructing the view?
In my school system, we were part of D.A.R.E for at least one marking period ( usually as part of gym ) for at least 3 or 4 years. I don't feel that it was very effective to myself and my school mates. Most kids in my school decide to spend Friday and Saturday nights drinking. At least one third of the school smokes cigarrets. And a considerable amount of people smoke marajuana. Some people even smoke weed during lunch. There are people who dont take part in any of this, but who says D.A.R.E was responsibe? Every day you see PSAs on TV talking about drugs, alcohol, and smoking. Many parrents remind their children of the dangers these substances can have on you. So, I feel that D.A.R.E is just a waste of money in my town. It just goes in one ear and out the other.

They proboly won't ever see that money either.
