Then again, we could be good progressive people who believe that trees and rocks have souls. If you split atoms or build telescopes or engineer genes, Mother Gaia will unleash Her righteous wrath upon you.
The AI goalposts keep shifting over the years as technology improves. Remember when it was claimed: "we'll have strong AI when computers can play chess?" Then it was: "We'll have AI when you can verbally tell a computer to do useful everyday tasks."
As we reach each milestone, we compare the state of the technology to our own human self-awareness and realize that it's time to move those goalposts agin.
I grew up in Orange County, so I do remember seeing living Republicans there when I was young. But since the golf courses dried up and the last skeleton was lacquered and wired at the LA County Museum of Vertebrate Paleontology, the Democrats have had free run of the state.
Yes, this story seems to me to be an example of "climate reporting" by the media. It represents a view of astronomy that matches their understanding of climate science.
The primary responsibility a photographer or any other bystander has is not to invade a crime scene, which is the perimeter delimited by yellow police tape. Just stepping into this area and possibly walking on shell casings, blood spatters, etc. could blow the entire court case against a perpetrator. If you arrive before this was set up, stay out of the area where this perimeter might expected to be set up - in other words, don't get in their faces while they're working.
Don't think "underground", but soil-sheltered. There is no need for subway-tunnel construction when all you need is a radiation shield. And besides, the lower gravitation (3.711 m/s vs 9.81) makes it easier to haul rocks and dirt.
Open market medicine reduces cost for everyone who pays medical bills, including governments and charities. It does not have to mean that only those who can afford full service get care.
For those of you unfamiliar with the American system, we have a requirement that hospital emergency centers provide free care to everyone who presents and can't afford the standard prices - which are in any case secret! This is, as you might expect, horrendously inefficient. If you go to an ER with a broken wrist, you first have fill out insurance forms for the company which will negotiate the secret prices on your behalf down to a treatment that can be afforded by your policy. Then you may have to sit and wait for treatment in line behind indigent kids with the flu.
Having an increased open market in medicine would start with making the secret prices public, but hospitals adamantly refuse to do this, even in places like Arizona. They will cling to their assumed Guild of the Silversmiths set of privileges until the day Stalin comes to execute them.
All drivers are qualified by insurance requirements and and by the minimal "background check" of testing and maintaining a driving record. What's at issue here are commercial car-for-hire rules that have been gerrymandered for the benefit of incumbent businesses.
If trade policies are going to be workable, they need to apply to all, or at least large classes of countries, as equally as possible. The very existence of secrecy for the reasons you describe means that we are trying to micromanage the trade policies we have with individual countries in response to pressure from corporate lobbyists.
Tear up this mess of corporate secrets. The trade treaty we need is one that can be negotiated openly.
A dose of socialism is just the bitter pill that might finally convince medicine that all those open market initiatives that have been proposed over the years might not be so painful after all. Like Czar Nicholas before them, US medicine is not about to accord the peasantry any rights until the Bolsheviks swoop in to exact "justice" on their own terms.

So that's the story of how you became Space Nutter Troll! Thanks for enlightening us all.
Hint: You are a moron.

"Are you in San Francisco Mensa?" asked Tom homogeneously.

"If you are a Democrat, you have to be an unqualified supporter"
So in a Democrat-locked state, why can't they build it?
"Also, what the heck is the tech connection here?"
These are all the places where you want a cheap Android phone.
Yessiree! Dyslexic human traffickers who never had to suffer back pain or stiff muscles, but were total failures at growing cotton.
Photovoltaic (evil because rare earths) as opposed to thermal (evil because desert tortoises would have to live in the shade).
Unfortunately, the figures on subsidies parting the clouds are not in yet.
A sufficiently large solar flare would be the cure for the NSA.

Surely we could find terrestrial evidence of such flares in the geological record, couldn't we?
By contracting with Amazon for package drops from "special warehouse" supply points directly to Aziz al-Jihadi in the war zone.
Your uncrackable chip-and-PIN European card got hacked how?

Sensationalist media reports are not actual science, unless they're about climate.
Is supposed to be the extensive testing and super security the industry is so renowned for.

The culture is not "French" in the modern sense, either. Think of pre-revolutionary France, even down to the language.
