    You need to go check put #movie-central on Dalnet sometime. People are doing just that: encoding DVD's as .asf and distributing them over IRC.


    Ironically, every movie I "sampled" from there that didn't suck ass I went out and bought. I probably wouldn't have otherwise.

    They may be democratic today, but we were arming them to the teeth ever since they were the military dictatorship of General Chiang. The CCP won China fair and square from those corrupt and incompetent nationalists, and if Truman hadn't parked the 7th fleet in the Taiwan strait, China would be one today.


    And FYI, Taiwan isn't really a country.

    Schmidt said the intruder was 'sloppy' in his work and failed to destroy all the logs monitoring activity on the server.
    "There wasn't a great effort to hide their presence.."


    Which could mean that they were sloppy, or that they perhaps forged some logs for the FBI to find, knowing that the media would eat it up with a spoon. No way to tell at this point.

    FWIW, the japanese versions of all MS products has always had this issue. Not just peren's either, like entire lines of text and the [ok] and [apply] buttons in the display properties for example. (This only happens if you have an english-language display properties "enhancement" program loaded)

    I've been using win2k for nearly a month now (the multilanguage feature is very useful).


    It's slow, and it's way buggy. Programs that are usually stable like FreeAgent and Napster crash all the time. And not just a "pop, they're gone" crash, they could bring down the entire system. I was rebooting it at least once a day. I finally switched back to Win98 which I find to be far more stable.

    I have to disagree. I would say the US is the player with a vested interest (in all 3 things you mentioned), and the EU comes far closer to being impartial.


    Consumers in general are overwhelmingly against Genetically Modified food, and believe Microsoft is too powerful. But only in Europe is that reflected anywhere in their regulations.

    HR kinda sucked, but keep in mind that in a pilot storylines often have to be sacrificed in order to introduce the premise and all the characters.


    Frankly, I don't think Fox gave the show adequate time to prove itself. A lot of fun things could have been done.
