No. IPv6 address space is MUCH MUCH larger than IPv4. It's very very different. It isn't deliminated by dots, rather by colon's, and there are QoS and priority concerns built in this time (so that your pr0n and spam move at a lower priority than something more important.) It's 128bit, and is SO large a space, we could assign an IPv6 number to every stoplight in the world, and not run out of addresses.
No. The Internet has not peaked. People thought the Internet peaked with Netscape 3.0 - NOT! Wait and see how invasive this thing is yet to become - esp. with IPv6 right-around-the-corner-any-time-now. In another 5 years, people may get ip address space personally asigned to them. Wouldn't that be interesting? Let's see where this ride lets off - it's only just begun...
I can't believe no one has suggested pricewatch.com. Pricewatch has whole linux systems for $450 to $500. You still need a monitor, but if the machine is going to be headless, or just something you use infrequently, consider using ssh, or even VNC which comes in both Winders and Linux/Unix flavors. It's even GPL'd. You can use it to "PCAnywhere" a system (I.E. remote control it) that has no monitor, keyboard or mouse. It rocks.
While the job of revamping Macintosh and Windows obviously belongs to their respective stewards, the same can't be said for the upstart Linux system. Nobody owns this Unix-based operating system built around the code first created by Finnish programmer Linus Torvalds. And so, transforming Linux, whose interface reflects its roots as a geek playground where civilians are unwelcome, has been a job up for grabs. A couple of groups have attempted to produce a crude graphical interface, but until a new company named Eazel came along, no one was willing to take the step to create a world-class interface.
What a pud. More innovation has come out of development on Linux than from M$ and crApple combined.
I like that idea! 1TB would ROCK! I'd throw that in my server - it'd be fast enough, that the RAM disk I'd make would be HUGE, and I'd NEVER have another file space problem again! I'd never worry about loosing data either if they keep a persistant state! That would rock!
Imagine a/dev/home dir on one of these...:-) (or a network share drive for you windows people.)
In production by 2004
There will be some test versions out in 2003, but IBM, which will make the chips at its own plants, doesn't expect volume production until sometime in 2004, Davari said.
If this is correct, you will not want any of the initial run. Who things we'll still want a 256Mb ram chip in 2004? More likely we'll be at 512 as a minimum, and as such, these will be worthless. Not to mention that they will be expensive, in all likelyhood.
I'll wait until it's less expensive, personally, and more usefull - like say a 1Gb chip. THAT would be cool. I'd think it has OTHER applications as well - imagine a storage CUBE of these, say 100Gb? I'd find that VERY useful. Since it's magnetic, it could be treated like a big drive. Imagine the access time!
Will this new technology drive down the prices of current trinitrons? I'd like one, but they are NOT cheap, so I'm still using my old trusty CTX 1451ES - it does 1024 x 768... It sure would be nice to have something larger than a postage stamp however.
When I say "WE" I refered only to the people working at Desktop Services Helpdesk. We *DID* refer to that place as the Death Star, and I have *PERSONALLY* been reprimanded for making dilbert references. Have you ever even worked in St. Louis, which by the way USED to be the corporate headquarters?
I wouldn't want them to hire me back - that place was evil.
No doubt! I worked at another SBC call center, at One Bell Center in St. Louis. We used to get calls from PacBell people ALL THE TIME. Some of them were terribly cluless. I remember one induhvidule who called me frantic, "My screen went all blue, and it says it's beginning a physical memory dump!"
"Okay ma'am, could you look behind the system and tell me if it physically ejected any chips?"
"Okay, hold on - let me check!"
No joke. This actually happened. For real.
The other issue is NEVER and I mean NEVER mention Scott Adam's name to anyone at the Camino Ramon facility. This building is second in size only to the Pentagon, and Scott used to work there. We call it the "Death Star" for obvious reasons. Word on the street is that some people there tried to sue Scott because the dilbert characters were too much like them in real life! Yikes! Who's actually admit to that???
I have to agree here. I have build nothing but AMD systems at home for years now, and have built nothing at work but Intel boxes for the same amount of time. The Intel box's are not any more stable (then again, with windows on the machines, that's not saying much) and tend to cost at least 10-15% more than the same box or equivalent. Why does anyone still buy Intel at all? I just don't get it.
Hell, my Duron 650 gets better performance than my PIII 550 at work. Hello????
Right - although "Biddy" or "Bitch" might be a closer translation than woman - and I was intentionally saying that to the above idiot rather than say "Dober dan" or "Dobre utro" or "Zhivio" or any other common greeting.
The poster was acting like a whining little bitch, and I called him on it.

Does anyone know when The GIMP will support CYMK? This is the thing holding me back from replacing Photoshop 6.0 and my whole windows partition.

Let's sing "Embrace and Extinguish" one more time!

When does the next album come out? Any chance of a "greatest hits" collection, something like Misc. T?

Most likely because they already have published a book on Apache. Check here.

The US Marine Corps seems to like the Harrier (sic?).
Once it was rebuilt to make it a working VTOL craft, sure. The model we fly was totally redesigned - here in America.

Sorry, I can't take credit for that one.
