  1. Re:LP? on Why Won't Apple Sell Your iTunes LPs? · · Score: 1

I also think the CD ruined the album. Before the CD, you had a choice: buy the record or buy the cassette. Either way, it was a pain to listen to the same song over and over. You pretty much were forced to listen to the whole album. Lesser known songs on the album grew on you because you heard them as much as you heard the hits. Once the CD came along, it was easy to skip songs and only listen to the "hits".

I find myself doing this too. Sometimes, I force myself to listen to an entire album on my iPod rather than just shuffling the songs I've rated.

My wife thinks I'm crazy but this is history. I want my children to know their grandparents and great-grandparents.

Some of the negatives I have go back to the 1940's when my mom was around 6 or 7 years old. The film quality was bad, but with the help of VueScan and Aperture, these B&W's are coming out great. You can see these here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffself/

You do know that Microsoft wrote OS/2 for IBM? And basically sabotaged it when they started working on Windows 3.0. IBM basically had to rewrite OS/2 themselves because it was so crappy. And Microsoft was first out the door with Windows 95 apps by months compared to Lotus and Wordperfect. Why? They were using secret API's the others had no access to. Believe me, the Microsoft of the 90's cheated at every opportunity to get where they were. They were cool in the 80's. Cheaters in the 90's and just plain old incompetent this decade. Maybe they are turning the corner with Bing and Windows 7. Who knows?

Or settle for an iMac. Thats out of the question. No expandability. Plus it will cost another $700 to upgrade to 8GB of memory because it only contains two memory slots and 4GB DDR3 modules are not cheap. Alternative: Build my own machine for around $1500 - $2000 and hope that I can get OS X to run on it. I run Final Cut Pro so Linux is out of the question.
