With the announcement of iPhone OS 3.0, the iPod Touch will be the device that rules them all. Home entertainment systems will use the iPod Touch for controlling the hardware in the future. This is my opinion, but I really believe it to be true. Read up on the External Accessory Framework and you'll see what I mean.
I was thinking along a similar line this morning. I work for a city government and I think its time to implement open source software in city governments. Why does every city out there either spend millions on ERP software or use their own custom software that dates back to the 90's and even worse, the 80's. What if we could write open source solutions that could be shared by cities across the country? This would save cities money, thereby saving the taxpayers money.
I remember hearing about a guy who walked into a CompUSA, plugged his iPod into a Mac, and dragged MS Office onto his iPod and walked out. Here's the story: http://tinyurl.com/dgf47d
Apple has decided that matte finish is a professional option only available on the 17" just like Firewire is only available on the MacBook Pro's. Remember, Apple knows whats best for us. I'm glad I got my 15" MBP last June before the new ones came out.
I'm using Mail.app as well, but I turned off the local copy. It seemed to me that Mail wanted to copy every single message from GMail. Thats a lot of messages.
I'll start a rumor. He's going into secret training and Carl Weathers will be his trainer. He'll emerge faster and buff. For those of you too young to know what I'm talking about, think Rocky III.
If one 16GB card fails, you've lost 16GB's of photos. If one 2GB or 4GB card fails, you've lost 2GB or 4GB of photos. Better to have multiple cards around 4GB's than a single 16GB card in my opinion.
Strange. I have a 15" 2.5ghz Core2 Duo MacBook Pro with 2GB's of memory. I also use a Dell laptop at work which has a 2.16ghz Core2 Duo with 2GB's of memory. From my experience, my MacBook Pro feels like its 100 times faster than my Dell at work. I run the same software on each platform too. Apache, Tomcat, PostgreSQL, Eclipse, Flex Builder, ColdFusion, Django, and Grails. There is just no comparison. The Mac just works while the Dell running XP barely works.
I just downsized from a MacBook Pro 17" to a MacBook Pro 15.4". The 17" was too big for taking it on the road in my opinion. But I go to some local Linux User Group meetings occasionally and my 17" was completely dwarfed by all the Dell 17" XPS laptops. Those things were monsters. They looked about 3 times thicker than my MacBook Pro.
The reason for this is that your body's metabolism is in protection mode. You eat 2000 calories but walk 7 miles. Your body is storing reserves because it needs them. You need to increase your calories and you need to change your routine. Your body is accustomed to the walk. Switch to something else. You have to shock your body. Lift weights. That will do much more for your body than walking will. Choose another aerobic activity but only do it for about 30 minutes every other day. Find a local high school stadium or something. Run the bleachers. Do wind sprints. Run 40 yard dashes 10 times and rest 30 seconds in between each one. That will kick your ass and give you a much better workout than your 7 mile walk. You need to mix anaerobics with aerobics.
As others have mentioned, walk or bike to work if you can. At least dedicate 30 minutes a day to some physical activity.
As for myself, I was a gym rat but with young twins, going to the gym became more and more difficult. So I invested in a set of Selecttech Dumbbells from Bowflex. They're adjustable dumbbells and don't take up much space at all. Gives me 90% of what I was able to do in the gym for weightlifting. I plan to start riding a bike to work this fall when the kids start kindergarten and ride a schoolbus. No more dropping off at daycare, so no excuse not to ride the 4 miles to work on a bike.
Get him on Python for starts. There's a good book out there called "Think Python". Its in pdf form right now and will be published in 2009. Its written by a high school computer science teacher who discovered Python when he was trying to teach his students C. The book is a revised edition of another book he did called "How to Think Like a Computer Scientist: Learning with Python".
Outstanding! I'll watch it again soon

Heath Ledger's role of the Joker is the best villain since Hannibal Lecter. They were very similar. Both were brilliant and insane at the same time, but the Joker was definitely more outwardly psychotic while Lecter was more subdued and in my opinion slightly scarier because of this.
You know, not everyone has non-production servers. Every server we have IS production. And if you are paying for Red Hat Enterprise, you expect Red Hat to have tested these updates themselves. If this was a Microsoft error, Slashdot would be all over Microsoft for allowing this to happen.
This is probably Microsoft's doing. Some idiot at Microsoft probably thinks that people will upgrade to Vista in order to watch streamed video on their PC that was already shown on television. How do these idiots get in the positions of making decisions at these large corporations?

So what does that say about Microsoft products, Steve?
The suspense of Gazelle is killing me.

Got mine for $508 from Dell a few weeks back.

You must hate to read books too. Since there are no brackets that let you know when a paragraph starts and ends.
It's easy to get high revenue -- just sell stuff at or below cost. You won't make a profit, but you'll have a lot of sales.
Dude, did you used to work for Dell?
Whoever is in charge, I hope they make a decision to license OS X. And I'm an owner of 5 Macs.

And the voice of a wizard in my kids' Dora the Explorer DVD's.

How about the fact that its built on OO 1.1.
