"It's easy when you collect nearly 10% of the cost of every PC that's shipped, while having no manufacturing costs of your own."
I have to think that MS has _some_ cost associated with producing Windows that could be considered manufacturing costs.
The article's author implies that MS has no cost associated with producing Windows and that seems to be misleading.
I am suggesting that the author's implication that MS does not spend $$ to make $$ is misleading. I am not suggesting that anybody else is or is not being misleading.
MS does spend money on creating Windows. It does not spend as much money to create Windows as receives after creating Windows. I know there's a word for that process. Some elusive word. Oh, what could it be?
It seems that MS has not only figured out how to collect underpants but also what to do with them to get to profit.
The idea is that more hydrogen leakage will cause ozone depletion and global warming. I think this is the opposite of what will happen.
Leaking hydrogen will take oxygen from the ozone layer but there will be more water vapor in the atmosphere. The extra water vapor will form more clouds and the extra clouds will cause more lightning. The extra lightning will form more ozone.
More lightning means that AM radio will have more static. More static means LESS Dr. Laura. Less Dr. Laura means less hot air. Less hot air means less global warming.
I think that perhaps we should be intentionally dumping hydrogen in the atmosphere to try to save the planet.
Anybody ever do something with automating the moisture control for plants?
What would you use for detecting the moisture content of the soil and deciding when to add more water? Perhaps measure the current flow through the soil (shock the little plant roots)?
What could you use to control the water supply?
Surely there's something plant-wise that I can use my computer for! Can I actually control my whole garden with a computer?
Maybe I can scare away pests with some motion detection on a camera and a loud set of speakers.
I can't help thinking that this is some kind of promotional thing for Fox's _Ice Age_. It happened about the same time as the movie was released, right? Has anybody gotten a good close look at the satellite photo? I'm pretty sure I can see "ICE AGE - COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU" carved in to the ice.
I think the facts are overwhelming here. I'd better go put on my tinfoil hat or they'll start stealing thoughts from my brain again.
It would almost make those high movie ticket prices worthwhile if the studios would do cool stuff like this. Plus it would provide for scienterifically interesting things to study.
An even better test would be to go with a double-blind type test.
Have _two_ friends help. Friend #1 flips the coin and either connects or disconnects the card. Friend #1 then notes the state of the card, makes sure that the state of the card is not noticeable in any way, and leaves the room.
Friend #2 should then escort the test subject in to the room. Test Subject decides if a migraine is in the works or not and leaves a note for Friend #1. Friend #2 and Test Subject leave the room.
Friend #1 enters the room and adds the result of the test to the data gathered along with the state of the card.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
The idea is to make sure there is no way that the test subject can get any hint of the state of the card. If only one friend is doing the work then the friend may give off some kind of subtle clues about the state of the card that the test subject may be able to pick up on. The two-friend method would get rid of that possibility.
That's sick!
Haven't you ever seen "I Dated A Robot"?
It seems like the process starts out with the goal to be much more than what Ofer did with his home scanner.
The scientists even attempt to apply some techniques they learned from other experiments to have the computer clean up the sound.
Looks like it could be very interesting to see how much of the recordings stored in the LOC can be restored.

Well, you kind of have to have a hole in a pipe. If you don't you just have a rod.

There has been some Photoshopping (GIMPing?) done on that photo. In the original there is a thumb in the upper right corner of the picture.
