I'd say that the biggest obstacle for free software, as in beer and/or as in speech, is that the Average Joe simply borrows a CD with commercial software from someone and thus the actual price of the software in question becomes a non-issue.
I honestly think that one of the best things that could happen to the free software community would be if Microsoft could somehow make it impossible to use priated versions of their software.
I think I've heard a rumor that the chinese government has ordered all the executives of the airlines that they must be in the air when the clock ticks over to the next millenium. This I suppose makes for a rather strong motivation to make sure that the airplanes will be functioning correctly.
After reading this review I'd like to clarify one thing. A linked list is not an algorithm, it is an abstract data type. The algorithm part is the description on how operations on the list are carried out. For those interested in the subject I'd recommend "Data Structures & Their Algorithms" by Harry R. Lewis and Larry Denenberg. It may not be very well suited for the novice programmer as the content is rather mathematical and abstract but it discusses algorithmic complexity to some degree. It also contains implementations for important algorithms in pseudo-code. Just my 0.02 sek
For those of you using E without following the development, the next release is supposed to have support for KDE hints. It's currently in a feature-freeze so it should hopefully be out soon.
I just finished downloading it from ftp.cdrom.com and found it pretty slow (~15 k/s). Those of you living in Sweden or nearby with reasonably fast connection to the net should be able to get it much faster here.
Don't know about separate soundcard but the guy here seems to have found a motherboard with integrated sound sporting an optical output. Couldn't hurt asking him I guess...

Could this be the real load test of the new setup?

I found the original site painfully slow so I've mirrored the mp3 here.
Sure looks like it, this is now available here.
Ok, the server seems to have been slashdotted to hell. Here is all I got from speech.mpg. ~2.3 Megs
body.mpg
hipwag1.mpg
hipwag2.mpg
hipwag3.mpg
walk-1-dress.mpg
walk-2-dress.mpg
walk-3-dress.mpg
speech.mpg is over 5 megs but I'll upload it as soon as I get it here.

The tar.gz package is available here. I'll keep it online for a day or two...
