...the charts would be full of lowest-common-denominator bland whiney teenage well-groomed all-style-no-substance pap
Is it just me, or does this sentence almost describe perfectly the crap coming out of the music industry lately?? I mean, this Britney Smears/N'Stink/Backdoor Boys crap is really getting old...
hmmmmm... has sarcasm become a rarity here on/.? You picked up on exactly what I was thinking... This is the same thing that the RIAA is doing. One company having their hands in both sides of the equation...
You mean kind of like Microsoft is trying to defeat piracy of Windows and Office XP by requiring "Joe Schmoe" to activate the product. You are right, they just want to prevent the casual user (*cough* ignorant user *cough*) from being able to give a free copy to their buddy. And just like the government is trying to defeat illegal gun possesion by making you register it and also wait several weeks to get the gun. Well, I don't know if I am the only one to see it, but it is only "Joe Schmoe" that is taking in the ass here. Just like criminals will always have guns while Joe is just trying to protect his property, and just like Joe will have to buy *2* copies of Windows XP for him and his kids while others make copies of the corporate edition, there will be those of us that will defeat this stupid deterent. If these companies would just take the hint, it could become a win-win situation. If you drop the cost of a music CD to what it *really* costs, it would drive the "commercial piracy" market out of business. It would become more work to mass produce the cd and try to sell it for $5 if the RIAA was already selling it for $5. Does anyone else understand what I mean here?
Wait a sec... are you saying that if I copy a music CD, I am protected from "having my fingers chopped off" but not from "Having my legs chopped off"? How can a law be written that takes away the right given by another without actually recinding the original law? Does the DCMA actually make the AHRA obsolete?
...isn't possible for them to make money on accounts that use these P2P-type services...
Are you saying that my cost to use their service goes down if I use those services?? I don't think my bill has gone up or down what what I am using... As far as I can tell, they are making the same amount of money from me either way. Anyone else's bill going down because of Napster??
Well, any competitor that has any sense won't try to ride on the name of the richest company in the world. If they really believe that they can compete, why can't they make a name for themselves. (Oh, and I know this is flamebait, but how about naming it something that makes sense... You know, something that at least gives a clue to what it is???)
Are you trying to tell us that you would not (or shold not, I should say) be prosecuted if, let's say, you stood in the middle of a mall or school, and commenced screaming at the top of your lungs about "horse fucking"? If that is what you believe, then you are really just a moron using big words.

Imagine that... using their own equipment to pirate their "work".

I think this idea was tried in the movie Chicken Run. Considering the movie, it seems like a good idea. But I wouldn't be so sure...
thanks for you input there, big Bubba...

"Sure, the Celeron is slower per MHz compared to the Duron, and costs $20-$100 more for the 'same' speed. But... do entry-level users know this? "
Since when has stupidity been a good reason for better value?
