I'm advising you not to do this unless you have alot of guts it's also illegal.
You have been at xyz firm for 18 months In internet time that's about 2-5 years of trust. It seems that you should have some High level contacts and access.
1) find out there human resource proceedure and storage system ( make sure you know how many copies there are )
2) raid your file for the documents you need
3) find the originals (ip documents), copy them, then trash them or copy them and take out your signature replace with the unsigned copies where ever there was a copy.
Unsigned copies are the best way because that can lead to clerical error ( whom gets the blame )
4) stand pat and wait 3 months
5) quit
Now I don't advise you to do this, but if you do their is your basic plan.
Now if you need an IP lawyer drop me an e-mail, I got about 3 that charge very nicely ( about 150 - 350 hr )

NOPE, they don't have to notify you. And Yes it's up to you to notice those "funny charges".
What they should do is notify their CC clearing house which will notify VISA, Mastercard, American Express... and then with the data, They can advise the host (users) card service provider/bank and have them run a pattern of activity and notify the customer if something seems wrong.
Ever get that phone call at 7 pm at your home asking "you have done xyz amount of purchases and were confirming that because of different activity it's you" Happen twice this year (2001) so far and had all my cards switched (yes they do it for free).
Offtopic : Protecting yourself
1) only use 1 or 2 cards that are strictly for on line purchasing.
2) give the CC companies the only approved delivery address home and office ( they will thank you for it )
3) when you think you are scammed, file the claim fast and then cancel the card and have them issue a new one.
4) if you on-line bank, do it only from your home and not your office. There are sysadmins that have keyloggers and other snooping devices.
5) this is important Each $ 1000 of credit = about 200 real cash (fense value) to a thief so keep your credit purchase per transaction limit to 300. this way the CC has to veryify the purchase to the 2 known addresses and phone #'s
I hope this helps

>>napster simply privides an easy way to find these computers and establish a direct connection to them..
Thank you for making that clear.
the problem lies when you have the traffic cop (napster) point towards the drug dealers so a person can get a fix.
This will also lead problems to the directories and maybe search engines. I think (so don't flaim me correct me ) that search engines just find things based on following the traffic (links) and user input and submissions. they basicly post what they see, w/o peer review.
Directories are based on the above and peer review. So if peer review show that xyz is hosting copyrighted material that is not owned by that web site. The directory should not post it on thier web site.
The real problem is that music has titles and a specific time. two item that can be cross checked against a data base
Now I don't realy know where yahoo falls under but I think it might be a directory.

Here is the problem. Because bats have such a bad rap nobody want's them around. In NJ ( where i live ) I tried to float in the town meeting that we should have a bat-coop on some of the public buildings to prevent the spread of a virus ( there was a west nile type virus that was spreading from CT all the way to NJ ) My town is the major crossing point from NYC and I though bats might prevent it or slow it down, our town borders the NJ swamps (meadowlands) and the Hudson river (and mosiquetoes breed like crazy in the swamps). I believe in reading the sealand notes posted in the past, that they would abide by certain rules and regulations. I would think that posting copyrighted material on there servers would be a claim that they have no desire to have.
Don't they want to be a secure data-hosting service? Whom in corporate (world) would want to do business with someone, if they are willing to host copyrighted material? I would not, most likely anybody that is going to generate significant revenue for them would not, no bank in their right mind would, no content provider would because sealand's lack of copyright enforcement.
Also don't forget that ISP can reduce traffic or block it entirely if they so dire. Just check your user agreements. Now you will come with the arguement that I know another way to the servers and you are correct, but here is the problem. You are/. individual that has skills above the common computer person. You only provide so much traffic and when that door closes another one will open but it will get harder and harder each and every time, and to the end user it will be VERY very hard.
Also ISP have enough problems with the stock markets, do you think that they want a global press release that states they are common carriers ( bandwidth sellers ) to sealand which inturns post music. I smell third party lawsuits. Negative press releases, stock tanking....

Lawyers are your employees. They know how to handle contracts, review argeements and everything else. Your best lawyer is the person that will sit with you and interview you to make sure that your getting everything that you want.
As an employer, I find that my best canadates to invest in are the ones that read my contracts and request a legal review prior to signing ( maybe because I open minded ), I understand that their are employers that don't like that but In your heart, do you realy want to work for a guy that say's sign this, don't debate this/ just do it?

If you were nut's you could turbo it also up to 210 hp (real strong heads and it had 4 valves. So you want to talk about a Hack. drop that into the neon and see what happens. Down here in Newark NJ, I see guys with outright race cars that pull low 10's down to mid 9's and they make a living off of racing on the street.

Basing that your talking about home computers
Well I guess you did not play with a C-64. The sprite graphic system at that time was top, and I don't believe that anybody had anything of equal until 1983.
The OS of a c-64 was also very good, plus the openness of the c-64 was such that, a firm in the midwest made it the controler & graphic output for some medical devices.
Tandy (radio shack) had some great stuff, All you had to do realy work at it. ( anybody remmember buying the preformated blue grid paper so your output to the screen was correct )
I recal but don't remmember the name of a company that sold PC kits. Those kits ( 1977 ) were alot of fun and you could control you ham operation and mores code transmitions with them. ( right on you tv screen ).
OS have made some improvments but not alot. Linux is the next true wave of massive redevelopement of an OS. 30,000 people giving up ideas, improving and speeding code, adding features of there own (and making it public) is going to win at the end. All we need is that one "killer" package and POOF there goes MS marketshare.

Well, since they are taking comments, I would send the following to them.
1) a statement that the "org" belongs not only to NON-PROFITS but to organizations.
2) request that a waiver application be on line. The way I see/. is as club of highly devoted computer personel and teachers at many levels. They give information out freely, increasing the general knowledge of general public. If you are in NYC, pick up the Daily News or the Post for a week and you'll see at least 2 related articals from/.
3) domain name protection request. (this one's open for many abuses )
State that there could be abuse of your trademark and your requesting a waiver that let's you hold the name but you can loose it to any NON-PROFIT or something simular to that.
OFF TOPIC - NON PROFITS
I quickly spoke to my accountant about non-profits. He said that the IRS / US Government is making it very difficult to form a non-profit. He mentioned the paperwork is somewhat difficult and that you have to "prove" the non-profit status.
I would also like to know
1) What is a non-profit like in other parts of the world Simular to the USA version or are they completely different.
2) How would they apply for domain?
3) Would a non-profit in asia / europe / central, south america that has a name in english characters spelled like a curse still qualify ?
Thanks

Lawyers are your employees. They know how to handle contracts, review argeements and everything else. Your best lawyer is the person that will sit with you and interview you to make sure that your getting everything that you want.
As an employer, I find that my best canadates to invest in are the ones that read my contracts and request a legal review prior to signing ( maybe because I open minded ), I understand that their are employers that don't like that but In your heart, do you realy want to work for a guy that say's sign this, don't debate this/ just do it?
Also lawyers are not as bad as you think and will be in the future, be your best freind.

Also remmember, the Hubble is designed for upgrades, so it might be possible that the Hubble will be upgraded in the next 10 years with the current technology.
The Hubble has a few special thing, It can point to most of the universe, it can detect different radiations ( mentioned above), and can most likely zoom in on a far away planet to tell us details of their making. Land based can only go horizon to horizon with the small problem of daylight interferance.
Offtopic.
I've never been a witness to a solar eclipes. Could someone tell me if the stars are the same as the ones I see at night ?

Wait wait wait .... there was a 4 banger I think it's called a Cosworth motor they were used in racing, ( I can't recal right now darn! ) anyway the exact type of motor was avalible from chevy in 1975 or 76, you could tune it for street all the way up to 140hp at the flywheel (that just spark plugs and small little stuff. If you were nut's you could turbo it also up to 210 hp (real strong heads and it had 4 valves. So you want to talk about a Hack. drop that into the neon and see what happens. Bet you get mid 15' without fixin' the trany or rear axel.
400 HP with a mouse is good but any rs or yenco ( giving my age there way ) chevy would leave that behind.

You ever take apart an engine, chop or channel her or manybe drop a 470hp engine and do the 1/4 in 9.7 seconds flat.
Down here in Newark NJ, I see guys with outright race cars that pull low 10's down to mid 9's and they make a living off of racing on the street.
Talk about hacking a car. These guys are using Mazda motors imported from Japan, The guy's in japan get them from the junk yard (motors not produced for USA). Hell they even give the guys on bike's a run for there money ( block to clock racing )
Don't mock these guys, they are the same as overclockers, just in a differnt game. Plus it's cool to post your best time on your window and get the bragging rights.

>This is my view. Back in the 70's and early 80's, computers had very simple operating systems, utterly primitive compared to today.

/. is as club of highly devoted computer personel and teachers at many levels. They give information out freely, increasing the general knowledge of general public. If you are in NYC, pick up the Daily News or the Post for a week and you'll see at least 2 related articals from /.
1) a statement that the "org" belongs not only to NON-PROFITS but to organizations.
2) request that a waiver application be on line. The way I see
3) domain name protection request.
Thanks
