First, people would get out of hand. No sense in argueing that, people would just go nut's without the ability to communicate ( standard phone lines would out so would cell phones ) Postage systems would be down also.
Second, you would spend most of your time protecting your children and not your crop ( at least in the begining)
Third, due to all computers going off there is no fuel ( refineries are all computerized ). The chances that you have enough fuel to handle your crops should be slim to none ( also you would want to trade fuel for food. Also there would be dramitic weather changes.
Forth... sad outlook... most likely if you have not had any mil/combat/survival training, your not going to make it. the world is to greedy and people will not share there goods with you.

I was just looking to see what people were thinking. Sorry for the rant. Had some idiot kid bring a gun to the school once and there parents were complete A-HOLES about the entire thing. I hope you never know the look on your own kids face when they are happy in your own arms knowing that dads' protected them.
The point I was mostly interested was in the Hit List and bomb making. I think making / publishing a hit list is legal, or the idea of a target page is legal. ( not that I like it but we must protect freedom's, I don't want to be the last one to say "not my problem" ). It's just that PARODY is a protected form of free speach, but sometime the target has no form of protection. I understand that it is not Illegal when it's off school grounds. That's fine. I'm more interested in the moral veiws & long term effects of the action.
I see that this situation ( homer / VP ) had no out right solution. The only solution was that the VP to ask the parents to speak to thier kid. If the VP was an a-hole, then he could of went in the "abuse of power mode" where the VP ask all the teachers to do him a favor and start making that kids life tough. Payback would have been a bitch to that kid, but it would have saved the school (if no one was caught ) their money.

Anyway the CueCat serves a purpose. It help marketers define what advertising the general consumer likes. This helps xyz company develope better ads. Gee don't you guys run multiple ads of the same company to see which one generates the greatest hits ?

What would have happened if the student used one of the jocks in his class. He would have had his butt kicked. Would justice prevail then in his case.
The action of the VP might have been incorrect, but a stiff warning from the VP to the childrens parents might not have worked.
Parents seem to think that most kids are innocent and that it is another kids fault. Just you wait when there is a gun criss in your local school and your daughter is trapped in there. You will do whatever it take to get your kid out. And when you find the other kids parents you want to take a 2x4 to there head. "oh my kid never showed any angry behavior, he was always a good boy..."

I am a smoker, I have become very tolerant of non-smokers. I do not smoke inside my home, I don't smoke in front of children in public places ( even in a resturant that allows smoking as consideration to them ). But I do not tolarate any body telling me that I can not smoke in my favorite watering hole, unless of course they ask me nicely.
Being polite is half of the battle. I might be a small person, but hell if I'm going to let you stop me from smoking unless you ask politely.
Last year, in a bar that I go to every week to play pool, A man about 6'3" tall and just about as mean looking as you could get said very loudly "put that cigarette out or I'll put you lights out" needless to say I look at him and said very nicely "if you say please" and keeped on smoking.
A standoff can be very dangerous things, and in a bar that has poll tables... well enough to say that it can get mighty nasty. Needless to say, there was enough tension in the air.
In this situation their was only 2 solutions (well 3 ), I snuff out or he say's please. I came up with a third. I approached him with a lit cig and said "I'll shot you for it" Saved him and myself face.
No fight, no lit cig, best out of 7 racks for the win. I couldn't smoke for those games and he couldn't curse. Loser had to quit grumbling.
I won fair and square, he then bought me a beer and said very loudly (and to my surprise) "please don't smoke" and I politely told him to go to hell and put out my cigarette.
If all you non-smokers just ask politely, I bet 99 out of 100 smokers would put out there cigarette in seconds flat. Just because you asked nicely.

The model of napster has proven to be profitable. The record comapnies want that profit. So what are they going to do? Chase after there money.
1) there going to send form letters to each and everyone that is running an OPENNAP type application. and remind those hosters that it is a letter from a lawyer.
2) They will also CC every ISP.
3) they will for there own hidden spies amoung the OPENNAP type groups. to catch every underground they can.
4) We will see someone fall and do jail time because of it.
that's my view on how it will be handled in USA side. Europe it might be the same.
Now here is the tricky part. If they scare the ISP they might be able to control it. I don't Think any ISP would like to have negative press while the US stock market is jittery about internet stocks.

They could have "shorted against the box". No upside gain on that.
purchased put options. cost of options but all upside is there.
Called a professional hedging company to cover there entire position. This is the best way. Basicaly they take an option (money / stock ) against your cash value of your stock postion. they then give you money. At the due date, you must give them your stock or the amount of money you got from them ( it's your choice ). So if your stock went down you deliver the stock, or if the stock is up you deliver the money. If handled carefully, the money you got made a good return and you would only have had to deliver money and a small bit of your stock.

Stock options are a right off not a Loss. Very simular, but different definitions.
Losses can be structured to be used at different times over the life of the loss, against profit ( net or gross i don't recall ) on a 1 to 1 basis. Atleast that's how I'm told to do it for my books.
right offs are used against current assests. They have an implied value from an asset. example inventory bought @ 100.00 currently worth 10.00 has an implied value of 100. but a real value of 10. your inventory right off is 90.

The law a supply and demand. It can be best played with this. I can restrict all supply to a given area and price respectivly to the market. What's wrong with that. Maximizing profits to the location.
Heck the only thing that's going to happen is my competitor will have to fill the demand for my product. But wait there is nobody to fill the demand... I'm rich ( at least until someone comes around and fills the need ).
I truely think that this will bring further development in consumer products. Because, each manufactures will see the pricing models of other manufactures and if somewhere is way to profitable here come the competition pricing a bit more cheaply.

Nope, I'm neutral to the entire Industry. But I believe that copyright's belong to those that buy them. If an artist is willing to give up those right's it's not the fault of a record lable.

I stated that napster model could work for both the artist and the record company IF the record company Owned the version of the studio work and the artist got the live concert version. ( I would love to have some Concert versions of my favorite RUSH songs ). The revenue model would show that napster-type system would pay the artist for LIVE concert stuff a percentage per download.

Did you take the time and look at my site. I take anything that relates to HIP HOP and R & B. If we like it we'll give you some love ( buzz, air time, shout-out whatever you want to call it ). There are many type of symular venues. I could give you a list if you need some help.
And you should hound people. That's the way you get your buzz going. Now if I owned a Record company and Owned all the right's to a Song I would hound everyone that is copying my LEGAL work ( I bought it remmember ) and use the Legal system to my advantage.

I think that Artist in general need to become aware that they need proper legal representation when they are greeted by the Record Companyies. Too many time I see artist in general give it all up just to get that break. Also artist need to understand that Music ( if made for profiting ) must be looked at as a business, and as a business it should be handled with everything reviewed by a lawyer.

The model of napster has proven to be profitable. The record comapnies want that profit. So what are they going to do? Chase after there money.
1) there going to send form letters to each and everyone that is running an OPENNAP type application. and remind those hosters that it is a letter from a lawyer.
2) They will also CC every ISP.
3) they will for there own hidden spies amoung the OPENNAP type groups. to catch every underground they can.
4) We will see someone fall and do jail time because of it.
that's my view on how it will be handled in USA side. Europe it might be the same.
Now here is the tricky part. If they scare the ISP they might be able to control it. I don't Think any ISP would like to have negative press while the US stock market is jittery about internet stocks.
How can you fight it.
1) Download from registered (legal) sites.
2) buy the CD
I know if I owned a Record company I would hound you till the ends of the earth.
Many people on this board think that record companies make money all the time but they also take alot of risk with artist, So please try to look at both sides of the problem.

There are many ways to prevent that loss.
They could have "shorted against the box". No upside gain on that.
purchased put options. cost of options but all upside is there.
Called a professional hedging company to cover there entire position. This is the best way. Basicaly they take an option (money / stock ) against your cash value of your stock postion. they then give you money. At the due date, you must give them your stock or the amount of money you got from them ( it's your choice ). So if your stock went down you deliver the stock, or if the stock is up you deliver the money. If handled carefully, the money you got made a good return and you would only have had to deliver money and a small bit of your stock.

Stock options are a right off not a Loss. Very simular, but different definitions.
Losses can be structured to be used at different times over the life of the loss, against profit ( net or gross i don't recall ) on a 1 to 1 basis. Atleast that's how I'm told to do it for my books.
right offs are used against current assests. They have an implied value from an asset. example inventory bought @ 100.00 currently worth 10.00 has an implied value of 100. but a real value of 10. your inventory right off is 90.
If I donate it, I could get an Implied right-off of 100.00. Accountants know how this trick works I don't)

I truely think that this will bring further development in consumer products. Because, each manufactures will see the pricing models of other manufactures and if somewhere is way to profitable here come the competition pricing a bit more cheaply.
