    I agree with the "No" for the long term. It will be nice and everyone's happy until someone (management) realizes they are not maximizing their profit potential, initializing the echelon, spanking the baby, or whatever market-speak term is popular at the time. And then start charging money.

    I seriously hope I'm wrong and this works. I'm just a bit of a pessimist.

    (Now remember, I'm saying no loss of life here) if it fell into an American football stadium at halftime. Can you imagine the special that NFL Films would make out of that. Steve Sabol: "Ohhhhhhh, and the satellite falls incomplete on the thirty yard line!" I wonder if that would make SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays of the week? Or would that be the Not Top 10 Plays of the Week? Official box score- "Game cancelled due to severe satellite weather conditions. Attendance: 54,321, plus 1 hunk of metal and a Martian." Would the home team get a Delay of Game penalty? You know how sometimes kids can run the baseball bases before/after a game? They could have an impromptu Run Around the Crater. Have the mascots do a tug of war with it? So many opportunities.

    Actually, I like having my apps pop back up when I re-start. If I don't want them to come back, a few -Qs, then hit restart.
    I'm getting long in the tooth, my Macbook Pro will 6 years old this December (did get a HDD upgrade). Not the fastest bugger, but I can multitask fairly well while waiting for it.

    The fun part about all the responders missed the entire point about how these tests are being measured in seconds (which I made fun of). Someone said minutes, someone was talking about tablets, someone is trying to melt his carry bag.

    I can kind of see not reading TFA, but shouldn't you comprehend my first paragraph where I'm ripping into testing articles that tout a "2 second faster boot"?f

    I honestly didn't know that Windows 8 ran on tablets. Probably because it is not out yet.

    Getting back to the subject, I love ER docs, they saved my life, literally. But since this was a WIndows 8 test, I think it should have been fairly obvious that I was not talking tablets.

    I do see your point. Perhaps we are looking at different spaces here. I'm looking at it as a home, non-work computer. If you are looking at it as a business/work system, I can see the frustration.

    Second, what the fuck are you even going about pulling Germany into a post about Britain?
    3rd, I got the damn idea from some stupid British tabloid, then retold by the Register (I believe. Don't any Brazilians get mad at me now! [No offence to Brazlians, first country that came to mind]).

    Now go back to your German happy place and contemplate how comparing your countries rules and stories is totally incompatible when the story is about some other country.

    But what about the report that chiropractors aren't real doctors that came our a few years ago?
    Or how saying anything about a celebrity/gov official is considered out of bounds (even with sources)?

    Hate US journalism/reporting/TMZ as much as you want, but at least the government doesn't censor it.
