  1. Try This. on Schneier: Break Up the NSA · · Score: 1

Civilanize the NSA. There is no good reason for security&intelligence to be connected directly with the military which should be a client not a driver. Put a civilian in charge of it with a legal and non-political background. Have a permanent appointed civilian oversight board. No generals, no politicians and no police commissioners.

  4. Re:To be fair on New Russian Fighter Not Up To Western Standards · · Score: 1

Yup, all those wars in the Mid East serve as great testing grounds. It's a pity loads of troops die in the process of testing, but hey you can't let morals get in the way of profits.

To "profits" for the industrial complex, you can add medals, promotions, and new toys for the boys. No heroes here.

  5. Re:Fuck religion. on US Justice Blocks Implementation of ACA Contraceptive Mandate · · Score: 1

This is not a grievance but a prejudice which causes harm to others. It does no material harm to those who have petitioned the court. Keep your religious prejudices to yourself and not inflict them on others.

  6. Put Respected Civilians in Charge of the NSA on Former Head of NSA Calls For Obama To Reject NSA Commission Recommendations · · Score: 1

It is time to purge the military-security establishment and mind-set from the NSA leadership. Bring in civilians with judicial or academic backgrounds to oversee targets and methods. No generals; no politicians.

  7. What is this "Belief" Stuff? on New Study Shows One-Third of Americans Don't Believe In Evolution · · Score: 1

You don't "believe" in science or evolution. You accept it, challenge it with alternative ideas, or confess ignorance, Belief is about faith not science. The two things are not equivalent. I don't have "faith" in science. The very idea is absurd.

  8. I See a Pattern on New Study Shows One-Third of Americans Don't Believe In Evolution · · Score: 1

About the same number of Americans consistently vote Republican although for most of them it is against their interests. Seems like a linkage here: Ignorance, superstition and stupidity, along with a big dose of manipulation and fear-mongering by the 1% and their wannabees.

  9. NSA "Infinitely Weaker"? on Former CIA/NSA Head: NSA Is "Infinitely" Weaker As a Result of Snowden's Leaks · · Score: 1

Good if it were true, but this is probably NSA misinformation. I am stunned and appalled that an important organization such as the NSA could have been run by such a square-headed idiot. Obviously the military mind at work. It is high time that the NSA were put under civilian control and directed by respected and intelligent people of substance trained in the law. Intelligence matters are far too important to be left in the hands of the so-called "intelligence community".

  10. Not for "our" benefit, unless we're Russians or Chinese. Personally I'm American, and consider Snowden a traitor.

I consider all the 1776 revolutionaries to be traitors. They disobeyed the law and undertook acts of treason against the legitimate governments. Where you stand depends upon where you sit and we don't sit together. In my book, Snowden is a hero.
