Knowing ingredients in food isn't rocket science. When I was 14 I knew most of the ingredients in my food! I was smart enough to not drink Draino either. According to previous logic, the gov't should restrict Draino because some people could die from drinking it.

I work in tech support for a (real) windows company. We came out with a computer program for dealers to order windows from the distributors in January. I did not design the program or have any input about it whatsoever, but everyone who calls in acts as if I was responsible for coding the entire thing. Give us tech support reps a break! I can diagnose and help fix almost anything wrong with a window that doesn't work properly, however that doesn't mean that I am a computer guru that can answer all question related to this software. (I've had calls from dealers who did not even have a cd-rom and asked if I could send them a copy on 3 1/4" disks!)

I bet you are one of those people from Greenpest or similar organization who spout nonsense about anything that is modified by humans. By your reasoning, an ameboa is intelligent on some level and we would be slave owners if we made it, or any other animal work for us. You are also implying that humans are not any better than or worth more than an ameboa either.

Bank panics were unrelated to the gold standard. They were due to ignorant people thinking believing Chicken Little when he said that the sky was falling. Anyways, that wouldn't happen today, with the invention of the cashier's check, electronic transfers, etc.

There is a great need for an online standard. After all, there will be eventually be a standard currency, probably something like U.S. dollars. A gold standard would prevent inflation in the U.S. from affecting the rest of the world as related to the internet.
