The difference is that all previous winners are all science fiction (hard or soft). Harry Potter isn't either hard or soft science fiction. That is why we have this controversy.

You are not wrong. I think that the Harry Potter books are an entertaining series and they should receive awards, but they are definitely NOT science fiction. If popularity is the sole judgement for earning the Hugo, then why hasn't John Grisham recieved one?

If your viewpoint is the case, then where does anarchy fit into the political spectrum? I admit that I over simplified my explanation, but the main point that I was trying to show is that if total government is on the left and total government was on the right, where would no government be? It obviously is not in the center...

Liberalism is socialism. Conservatism is fascism. Vote Libertarian.

socialism = total government, fascism = total government, liberal = left wing, and conservative = right wing.

Does this mean that the entire spectrum of government is toltarian? If so, where does anarchy fit in?

More accurately, left wing = toltarian government (communism, fascism, monarchy, olgiarchy, socialism) and right wing = anarchy. This leaves different degrees of government between the two extremes.

Just in case anyone thinks that I approve of his behavior, I don't. However I do not believe that he needs to spend the rest of his life with that stigma. After all, other serious crimes, like murder, bank robbery, rape, etc. don't have probation-for-life.
