The content is unsalealbe and unbuyable. The content is ideas in somebody else's head. Try to claim any ownership of the content after buying a copy of it and see how you are laughed all the way to you jail cell.
What you are buying is the service that facilitates your access to those ideas.
The device of copyright (right to copy, get it? Not right to buy) was devised precisely because ideas are completely different to physical objects.
The might of all the software houses, big multinationals with internal development teams, consulting companies around the world, goverments, etc., have not smelled the coffee about a language that will make them more productive.
This has nothing to do with French law, GP's point was about human phisiology, which is not different if you speak French or US English.
Apple knew that the product could be harmful, in one place they were forced to make ammends, in another they ignore the issue. How more negligent can you get?
The people that were burned are guilty of spilling the coffee (maybe).
The 3rd degree burns (I think you don't appreciate what this is. Google for it, it is a life devastating experience) are not their fault: they did not heat and served an unsafe product.
700 may be too small for you. Pray you never are burned that badly, then you will appreciate the real proportion of the problem and how lucky people were not to be badly burnt.
You would not be so cavalier if you have been received a 3rd degree burn due to lack of care.
It would be childish to sue companies for spilled coffee at a reasonable temperature. A normal temperature spillage is treated with running cold water and you move on with life.
It is childish to insist that 3rd degree burns are somehow the fault of a person spilling coffee that is clearly not fit for human consumption. That can't be treated easily and your life does not just move on if you are unofrtunate to experience this.
I don't care at what temperature you want to burn yourself, that is your problem, if you are dumb enough to be a hazard to yourself, be our guest and post the pictures.
That a company selling you drinks sells you something that can cause 3rd degree burns (it will not hurt initially btw, your nerve endings would be destroyed, check what a 3rd degree burn is before opening your bocota) is completely unnaceptable.
If I spill coffee on myself I have a reasonalbe expectation of mitigating the symptoms with a bit of cold water. Spending any time on the hospital receiving skin grafts and being marked for life is not reasonalbe, no seas pendejo.
I mirror my disk and then once in a while (once a month or so) I copy data I consider important to an external drive which is locked under key.
The only way I would lose my personal data is if there was a catastrpophic problem, in which case data integrity of my family photos and video would be the least important of my concerns.
I have been in many nice hotels and I only use Internet from the room if is either free or absolutely indispensable (working out of hours while on a bussiness trip? Is that really necessary?).
Most areas where a good hotel is will have reasonable priced internet cafes or bussiness centers that charge reasonable rates (I have worked in many diverse countries in Asia, AFrica, Europe and the US, thsi has been the case almost always).
Money that is wasted on outrageous costs for Internet access (we know it does not cost that much) is money you can tick in the column of ineficency. The inneficency column adds up very quickly if one does not take care of it.
That is an expense that a firm should not absorb because most likely is not really necessary.
Honestly, I don't fucking care what you guys need to do to get your job done.
It is not like your are doing it for charity.
If your industry wants to create artifical scarcity all consumers will line up behind anybody that fights such idiotic plans.
If ISP and Telcos don't want to offer consumer satisfaction, new features and value added options, and instead want to throw a little cartel-like tantrum and strangle artificially the offer of a service, go ahead and test the consumer.
Tell your bosses to try it. Internet users world wide dare them.
It has been proven beyond any doubt (specially analyzing ice from the poles, that keep CO2 for millenia, but other different studies suggest the same) that the tremendous rise of CO2 in the athmosphere started more less at the same time as the Industrial Revolution.
The increase does not coincide with any previous one ever studied, the magnitude of the increase is far too big for it to be a cyclic event.
The change is that we are producing CO2 in a far more "efficient" manner that neither breathing or burning wood (a very inneficient way of producing CO2 compared to the combustion engine or the steam machine, or power plants more recently) could have ever done.
Pretty much all nuclear plants are economically unviable. The French goverment, the greatest proponent of nuclear power in the Western World, pretty much is broken due to subsidies given to the nuclear industry.
The same goes for the nuclear industry in the US, UK, Japan and let not mention China, they still use socialism and communism in many instances, power supply is one of them (i.e. entirley subsidized by the state).
Our only salvation lies in changing our attitue towards energy:
-We have to save energy: we waste far too much of the enrgey produced: oil producers burn gas as a byproduct of oil production, people waste energy at home in household appliances that are on standby, a lot of power generated gets lost on the transmission phase (consequence with our love of centralized megaporjects).
-We have to descentralize the production of energy: why is it that every single new house is not fitted with solar panels to produce elcetricity and a small wind turbine? Why do we keep insisting in building megaprojects (oil, nuclear, that is immaterial). were the transmission lines are going to consume most of the generated power instead of looking at smaller scale local projects? Why is that governments are not taxing cavalier waste of energy? (yse, you SUVs are an energetic abomination).
-We have to use renwable source of energy: Brazil is showing the way here, but it is not the only possibility.
Why not? Well, simple, look at the leadership of the most poluting country in the world. That pretty much explains everything.
Like in the "scientists" paid by the US oil companies still denying this against pretty much all the climatologists around the world?
There will always pepople disputing things, but there is a point when the evidence is so overwhelming that they should be regarded as if they were inisisting that the Earth is flat.
Get the poor black people out of jail. Including the children you are happily locking and even executing.
Then come back and repeat you hollow nonsense about homw much AMerican care aobut those freedoms, those same freedom that you are failing so miserably to defend.
The world needs guidance in the bussiness of freedom, you guys lack the moral authority to provide any.
Google around about it (or go to MSN or YAHoo if you have the stomach and are doing an infantile boycott) , once your company reaches a critical mass you can't keep it private.
We, people from third world countries, are sick an tired of you guys exporting your fucking freedom and your stupid values.
Every time you wanna bring democracy somewhere you bomb the place to bits, prop up a ditator or in general make a mess of it, and then you look at us like if you have done nothing wrong. Keep your freedom and your values, we don't need them, our values and ways to find freedom are much better to our circunstances.
You are only talk and no action when it comes to freedom. The shameful state of governance and politics in the US and the EU should leave no doubt that you have no moral high ground to be lecturing what is good for freedom and what is not. You are droping the ball, you are failing to be fari and to respect any international law, that you guys, have signed. Heck, the fucking Brits even hinted at how inconvenient is the Geneva Convention in the Holly War against terrorism.
Get a fucking clue and fix your own oligopolic, incestuous parties, cull your special interest lobyists and brake the also incestous vicious circle between politics, financial donations and political advertisment in the media. Oh yeah, and do something to make a living from something else than proping up your military industry (how many jobs is the Iraq fiasco generating? Great for you guys, just remember that those dollars you are earning to feed your family are tinted with innocent blood).
Most corporations do far more to bring Western values to places where it is possible to do so than the fucking lefties in the US that are so disorganized that can't even agree to be bothered to have some basic guiding principles. And I say this as a left leaning person that battled for freedom in a country were that could have costed me dearly. Do you want to help China? Get your fucking house in order first pal.
Once Western companies get a foothold in a country they bring with them eficiency and a desire for accountability and transparecny, without which it is impossible to make bussiness. I say this with a heavy heart, but the reality is that economic progress and the conditions for democracy are helped enourmously when foreign companies set foot in disadvantaged countries.
Small time capitalists in third world countries, communists, fascists, dictators had got their chance at shapping societies for the benefit of the people and they have all failed miserably.
In the other hand, corporations have been so succesful that have managed to dull people in rich countries to hand over their basic rights because all the basic wants are basically fullfilled. People today (in general) don't starve, don't die of diseases on the street and have enough food to be morbidly obese (funnily enough a sure sign of poverty in prosperous places). Add the circus of the 500 channels on TV and all is squared.
Corporations surely should be contained, but as long as we the people are not arsed to do so, the corporations have to do the best they can in a world that is not black and white, a world in which the people being censored may actually agree with the censorship, a world were people vote and put terrorists in power (you guys voted Republicans again. didn't you?).
Give Google some slack. They had to be put in a completely unwinnable situation in order to do something that clearly has many undesirable effects, but unlike other companies, they have behaved impecabbly otherwise. They have not seek to take unfair advantages from other companies (unlike the company of the individual we all know), they tried to do a flotation in the stock market that did not overvalue artificically their stock at the behest of financial institutions with priviledged information, they help the cause of Open Source Software and are the best advertisment that you can bet the house in your infrastrucutre being GNU GPLed.
This was a no win situation guys, smell the cofee, wake up. In today's world not to make bussiness with China first i

Somebody arguing something has a past, logical axioms don't.
When somebody makes an impecable logical argument you still has to question his motives and how he is arriving to that.
The argument may be correct, but we are entitled not to trust who is saying it.
In practice we don't trust people with dubbious moral authority about an issue and for good reason.
The might of all the software houses, big multinationals with internal development teams, consulting companies around the world, goverments, etc., have not smelled the coffee about a language that will make them more productive.
But you have.
Paint me unimpressed.
Thank you for pointing the Bat-ovbious.
Unless you think that MS forcing their EULAs on us is a charitable action.
What do you thing licenses are for? Are you the Joker or what?
.... to get lost and follow the procedures.
The rest of my users deserve that I weight carefully their concerns and needs and act farily in consequence.
This has nothing to do with French law, GP's point was about human phisiology, which is not different if you speak French or US English.

But a RAM change is not necessarily simple.
In datacentres where you may have 30 or 40 machines in a cabinet it is a real risk to allow people to fool around changing some RAM.
It should not take 9 months, but it should not be allowed to happen in "automatic" approval mode.

War is not a legal means to acquire territory.
Familirize yourself with the UN charter, which Israel is a singatory of. before ejaculating misinformation.

There is no such thing as a bang in history.
History is a slow beast, all the examples you cite took decades to come into fruition.
Talk about killing your own argument.
So from being a communist state now they are a hybrid society, ergo, they are moving in the correct direction.
I never want to have you on my side during a debate pal.

Is that the same one buying Chinese imports from Walmart?
Which American public are you talking about?
The same public that re-elected Bush?
You sir, are obviously trying to pull our leg.
Let me laugh Ha ha ha.
Ha.
