Lots of businesses and institutions are public by nature but have a brain fart when trying to deal with it.
How difficult would it have been to give the guy a temporary ID or to simply ask what his business on the place was and then corroborate his history, before herding him to the "security office"?
The security officers of any institution are in many instances the public face of that institution.
Which kind of face do you want to present to the public? The illogically paranoid one?
And my data has never graced my employers' computers.
Never. Ever.
The principle is simple really. All those suggestions above about "encrypt this or virtual machine that or bonus I don't know what else" are unadulterated bullshit.
Marriage is an arrangement between two people that want to live together (in civilized places this is not even attached to the sex of the partners).
Nowhere in that arrangement isn an implicit or explicit agreement to share absolutely everything about yourself with your partner.
Such complete encroachment in your private life will only undermine a relationship, each person needs his own private space in which to express himself. For some that is pornography, that is their choice, frankly it is nobody's business to tell those people they have a problem just because they chose not to share this with their partners.
Some people may, most people don't, so stop making these stupid generalizations about people's problems and projecting your own arrangements regarding personal privacy as some kind of universal golden rule.
"Is it okay to mistreat Germans now? No. Of course not. Anyone born after WWII in Germany has no moral culpability for what happened then. I'm not even saying it should have happened that way. What I'm saying is this: After WWII, anything contemporary Germans got, they had coming to them, in spades, and sounds more like justice, rather than an atrocity."
German descendants in today's Namibia were put in camps by the British (South West Africa, as it was known back then, was administered by them), they lost many family members during the war that had no allegation to the ideas of Nazism, they just went to fight for their country (German nationality has traditionally acquired by blood, irrespective of your birthplace).
Women of all ages were raped by the Russians when Berlin fell, if you are suggesting that such actions are justice, I frankly want nothing to do with your notions of what is fair or not.
Justice has to do with a civilized institution in which your alleged crimes are judged in accordance to fair laws.
What you are advocating is not justice, it is just a different form of fascism.
The problem with people of your racist ilk, is that they mix and match terms without the sightliest regard for historical accuracy or even common sense.
The atrocities commited by the Nazi regime did not excuse in any manner the atrocities perpetrated by others, to even suggest so gives carte blanche to the most unimaginable type of barbarism.
How it comes that there are people out there that think Polish people can't possibly stomach the thought of buying something advertised by a black person?
Thanks for clarifying your misinformed point of view ( for the record, I know many Polish people and I am sure they will be the most puzzled about somebody "needing" to do such image doctoring).
But I can chose the experts I trust, and balance their opinions against outcomes.
I have missed lots of movies because critics I trust had panned it down. Then if by chance I see it on TV later, I normally agree that they were right.
Chosen the experts you trust carefully is part of being an individual, that is why you delegate a lot of decisions about your life to people that know more than you about certain topics that matter to you.
The hate of the expert is a nasty trend that should stop, nobody can know everything about everything.
Examples that show RMS has been a prick with the press?
.... officially you don't need a passport to leave most countries.

"The darn corks always end up floating down in the wine or break"
Not if you can afford proper wine.
Or champagne, which lacks this problem.
So what is your point?
Do Vietnamese, Indian, Mexican, English, Bangladeshi-America would do it for you?
It really depends on the company and the field of expertise, what would surprise me nowadays is to enter a room with an homogeneous attendance.
We had a team of 20 people, give or take.
A third of them were Irish, 2 or 3 women, my boss at some point, was an Irish lady.
As London is London, we had 1 Nigerian and 1 Caribbean guy, then it was the guy from Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Gujarat, in India.
We had some native English people as well of course.
I am Mexican.
So do you think we arranged our meetings in order not to offend the sensibilities of people that see "Political correctness" everywhere?
You aren't serious, are you?
I sometimes don't understand how the neurons of some people work ....
... is a war crime.
Don't believe me please, check it out.
What is "logic", fair or legal often have nothing to do with each other....

Or where do you think Warsaw Ghetto was?

Somebody that actually gets it.
It is a shame that learning curve was so painful. Sorry dude :-(
What about willing misinformation?
... you really should rethink your attitudes to life.
That "joke" is one of the most distasteful things I have read here, and that is to say something.
"You are dead" is not a term of abuse.
Racism is when you think it is fine to joke about people with the clear intention to pander to stereotypes.
Thanks for clarifying your misinformed point of view ( for the record, I know many Polish people and I am sure they will be the most puzzled about somebody "needing" to do such image doctoring).
Only somebody that hasn't opened an history book could utter such stupidity with a serious face.
... with Black,. Asian and Caucasian attendants. I ma Mexican BTW.
What is your organization? Mo's & Joe's hand car washers?
I know of big corporate names that have Linux on the desktop today.
If they are not worried about SCO there is no reason why anybody else should.
