Indeed. It looks like the telcos licensed from the railcompanies to bury cable, but the rail companies didn't have the rights to dig according to their lease.

I think the telcos think they have a better chance of burying this in litigation and/or settling with the owners than risk losing the use of the fiber if the rail companies lose.

  4. Telocity DSL in Atlanta on Some Customers Can Roll Their Own DSL · · Score: 2

I'm signing up for telocity DSL today. They do the self install kit. They also give you a static IP, don't care if you register a domain and point it to your DSL (as long as you don't run a biz off of it), and list UNIX under their supported OS's.

    Not too shabby...

Well asus may be scared but FIC isn't. I really wanted a k7 when they came out, but it was impossible to find a MB for it here. I was finally able find people selling the FIC SD-11 for about $150. Let's just say it's very nice. Check out http://www.cpureview.com/rev_k7-linux1_a.html . 1.44Mkey/sec @ rc5 and 37 seconds @ the povray test! BTW the povray test was 10 seconds faster than windows on the same machine :)
