  1. Re:Flawed arguments on Do Digital Photos Endanger History? · · Score: 1

I have worked in and around professional photography for 2 decades. I have run out of film. It is cumbersome at times to carry and maintain 30-50 or more rolls of film. Assistants have mis-marked exposed rolls of film. Snip tests are freakin' expensive, while doubt makes you paraniod--should I push a stop? You'll have to wait and see. Labs never screw up do they? I like to see today's news today. This woman got a degree for writing this drival? I give her a "D."

  2. What sounds best? on What Sounds Better, MP3 or Ogg? · · Score: 1

Live music sounds the best. Get out, have some fun and pay for some music for a change. You might even meet someone and fall in love.

  3. Re:Easy to work around for most numbers on Copyright Claimed on Telephone Tones · · Score: 1

This is such a great investment of time! As I recall, copyright infringement potentially occurs on the eighth note, so that would wash this project for most phone numbers. Also, what if I dial to a different rhythmn--a little staccato
    or legato?

  4. nSync out of touch on NSync Copy Protected CD · · Score: 1

They will have the career of a mayfly with a broken wing. Their label knows that and will make every effort to capitalize on their "so long as we're cute" pursuit. There is nothing wrong with copyrighting music and then protecting it. Where people get off thinking that they should have the right to steal somebody's work is beyond me. All of the justifications made are sewage. It all boils down to wanting something for nothing and ripping people off along the way. Go out and buy some music for a change.

  5. The Record Industry on Music Industry Forcing WMA standard? · · Score: 1

The article starts out with "The Record Industry," in reality they refer to themselves as the "record industry." Music created by talented and untalented alike is basically a cog in the industry's machine. If the cog doesn't fit the industry model it will be modified to fit or tossed aside. NO ONE signed with a major record label doesn't have to compromise their art on behalf of the label. If you make music and have the desire to become sucessful do everything you possibly can to maintain the ownership of your work--then you can give it to or sell it to whoever you please. Be careful, if you're really good the "industry" will watch you do all the work and then sleaze in offering to make your life easier. They will compromise your work and not only steal it from you--they will take a part of you along the way. They they will decide for you who should be permitted to listen to it. I'd much rather have whomever, wherever, ripping my music and enjoying my work then to have a bunch of arrogant, ignorant, brown-nosed weasels ripping my flesh (thanks, FZ.)

  6. artnotart on Fighting For Privacy With Art and Words · · Score: 1

It's an age-old scenario--when you don't have the abilities to produce something truly artistic--take an artistic medium and add some socio-political twist to it and THEN say it's art. Looks to be Photoshop 10, pre-requisite for Photoshop 101.
