Get GFCC it works great I use it on my 5.3 system. Don't expect it to fix all your problems, remember Firewalling is a concept not a science. Any time you have services running that are open to the public (the internet) you run the risk of being rooted. Look at the risk and the gain and turn off what is not worth it.
It depends on the Printer. And if you install the wrong driver for the printer(ie. HPLJ4) all the other printers on the server that are the same type (ie. HPLJ4) will install the wrong driver when you "Point and Print". I know this for a fact as one of our admins did it. And yes I had to go to every workstation and change the drivers.
We have about 45 Dell G1's and about 150 Cp-Cpi laptops at work. I have only have one hard drive in the desktops go down. The laptops are another story, the onsite contract with Dell has been great. I have even had the EU's call support from their homes and had Dell come and Fix the problems there. EU's are hard on Laptops, I am sorry you have had such a bad time with Dell I have nothing but nice things to say about them. They have made my life much better.
My first linux install was Slack and I downloaded it from the net. I got the the base and the required apps in 1.44 format. I started down loading on a 28.8 modem @ about 6pm when I got home from work. While down loading I read the install docs. I had it installed on a the same machine with ppp working at 6am. I had never installed or used Unix at all. Just alittle SCO from an NFS mount. That was in 95... Linux today with bootable CD's is by far the simplist OS to install from scratch.
I install win95, NT workstation, NT server and Terminal Server at work all the time. I use Ghost because it takes too long to install all the video, sound, network, modem, Service Packs and Fixes by hand. Anyone who says ANY OS is easier to setup then linux is FULL sH%$.
I was looking into MTA's on linux too and found Exim... It seem to work well and was ALOT quicker to set up then sendmail. I did notice a lack of a quick and dirty setup doc.
RS-422 is used in almost all High end VTR's to talk to Edit controlers and switchers. Also most edit decks will hook up to computers for frame control. I uses to use it to dump video Frame by frame to my EVO9650.
BTW... 1.44 FD's are just about the most expensive media there is per mb, but per disk is another matter.

Good.. When RHAT drops in price, you will get the Linux faithfull buying in and holding on to it. Pushing the price back up again. It really has nothing to do with PE, RHAT will be a darling tech stock driven by a hatred of MSFT and hope for the children.
MCSE ? what is that... ? NO REALLY what is it? These test have nothing to do with the real world, they only have to do with MS and MS products. Or how to run a wizard to help migrate you to MS products. I love how they turn a blind eye to unix and other systems as if they will they only ones, I also love the way the make stuff up and call it some silly name. When that same stuff has been around for 30 years and already has a name.
I forget where I saw that comment first, But it still gives me a chuckle.......
I bring it up every time one of the programers locks a workstation up.
Everyone at work knows I like Linux.... To bad the IT director it an MS pundit. But I figure it all comes out in the end. I have been too busy doing y2k patches on MS shit too show the MSCE's (is this a cult or what? talk about brain washed) the virutes of SAMBA.
Thats is why I get the src.rpm and do a rebuild. This always seem to work. Once in awhile I will have to install some dev libs or such, but that is no big deal.
First they take away all private gun ownership. they the dictator takes over. WAKE UP!

I though Micros~1 bought SoftImage ? I doubt we will see a Linux port of that.
AIM is AOL's product. It uses their servers to work will their subscribers. Microsoft has no business messing with it to begin with. AOL might have more members then MSN so what. AIM is not a standart (thank god) and neither is AOL. If you dont like it switch to another ISP. I use ICQ and if you dont have it TuFF and if you can,t install it, I don't have time or need to talk to you anyway.
If it ends up that they (any IM service) starts embedding ads in the programs, I will stop using it. I got along just fine without em. Telnet to my server and lets talk shall we.
It is important from a support stand point as well. Not that there is that much of a problem now . I think this(LSB)is more to make people see that Linux is Linux no matter how you wrap it.
Forking Hurt unix.
Commerical Vendors will not release source code, and a LSB binary better work on all LSB Linux systems.

You are a fool. GUI is not for everything CLI has and ALWAYS will be an important part of computing.
