    I will not give out names, but we buy and buy and buy. Are we stupid? I would have to say that the EO are stupid for letting the IT dept lead them down to path to ruin. My vote does not count and eveyone else in IT knows my view on the subject. They all look stink eyed at me when they see that I run linux on my system. As I speak we are dumping HPUX 11 and moving to SQL7, this is going to save us money in system support cost they say. Want to talk about clueless, Well I guess time will tell and it is not my arse on the line.

    Wordprocessing is a skill that MS killed. If I see one more memo with Office 97 clipart in it I think I will yak. Oh btw WinZip killed command line skill. Try to Find a worker that knows how to use cli pkzip, you can't do it.

    Why not hit Alt/F2 and kill it from there, or do a telinit 3 or try Ctrl/Alt/Backspace a few times.

    Oh and I am sure that NT or 95 has never done anything that you did not understand. Every see an NT server that reboot on the bsod ? how do you fix that ? This is a real problem and I have seen admins that don't have a clue how to fix it.

    I dont care if I use MSFT or Linux. It's about getting the work done. It just so happens that Linux is WAY WAY more useful to me outta of the box then NT is. Do I use MS products, you bet I do, do I like it ? only if it works. Do I use Linux ? you bet I do. does it work ? sure it does.

    I think that the problem is the out right untruths
    that MS peddles. NT is NO WHERE near as advanced a UNIX/LINUX and I hate/resent MSFT for trying to say it is. The clueless EU's all think that MS is the only way and they deal with the problems that pop up using MSFT products. They all bought the MSFT hype and it stoped them from making an informed choice.

    We need advertising regs to keep companies like MSFT from selling lies about what their products can do.

    It is tempting to sit back and say "you be sorry" for using MS, but we all know what happen, our hands were tied by the PHB and now WE have to fix it or dust off the resume and move on. Let the PHB figure it out, it is just point and click right ?

    I use netscape in NT 4 sp4 and Linux 2.2.13 and I have used it for years. I have never had a crashing problem. So WTF is wrong with you people, do you have shitty systems or are you just clueless.

    I think that trademail is what you are looking for. they are in testing right now and exchange support is not in there yet. I downloaded it a took alook the other day. I hope they get it right. I use linux at work as my desktop, we have a Metaframe Server and I use an ICA client to use outlook and other MS crap.

    Wrong... I have a OCed 350A SMP system running a SB live ... it works just fine. (well as fine as the current Non GPL driver allow).

    I have a SB live running under 2.2.13 and I have had no system problems what so ever. I think I am using the 2.2.10 driver. Don't scare people so bad ! I don't think anyone is runnig a SB live in a production server anywhere.

    I think you have missed that fact that all those pirated copies are being used by people. MS DOS was/is about the most pirated software in the World, but all those copies also gave MSFT market share. The same it true with win95 and NT, take away all thoes pirated copies from 89 on and we would live in a very different World.

    Anyone who belives that companies don't cook the books when it come to priated software and loss ROI is a fool.

    It seems to me that alot of linux users hate MSFT for other reasons. It just so happens that they use Linux. But, I believe that MSFT should be made to pay for the damage they have done to the open market. Does this mean I hate MSFT ? NO I just know better, I know that my computer should not crash, I know better then to lock myself into constant upgrades with MSFT. In other words I know what to expect from MSFT products. It's just that others have been so mislead that they wonder why their NT server is having problems. What did they expect ? You bought a shiny paint job, and just got shafted by the Biggest Flim-Flam Man in the World, and any way you go it is going to cost you money to Fix it. Is that right ? NO .....

    Humm... MSFT has a habit of flapping their lips about 2 years before they have any kind of product to speak of. All I am saying is that the FUD mongers have been strangely quiet about 64 bit anything. Just kinda makes you step back and say humm...
