    You killed Hubble! You bastard!

  2. The usual Microsoft on Microsoft's Athens PC · · Score: 0

Instead of trying to make their stupid operating system
not crash or attract viruses, they want to improve the
office worker's life by slapping a phone onto their PC, so
when the PC crashes, so does the phone. Wait, then you
    can't call tech support. Genius.

  3. Will Become? on DOJ Blocks Satellite TV Merger · · Score: 0

Priceless. The US economy is already stagnant and weak and falling apart due to corruption and incompetence, and the reason sure ain't socialism.

Even better, Bush's solution is to start a big fat war. US politics is even funnier and more absurd than The Osbornes.

"ability to comprehend time and history."

Prove it! Mankind has not learned from its past.
Just look at recent history if you don't believe me.

  5. Re:Why the hell? on Designing Multiplayer Game Engines? · · Score: 0

Java is slow as a GUI, but the networking and all the other plumbing you'd need for that game would be fast enough. Java's standard API is incredible, and if I was going to write a big honking game program, I know what I'd write it in.

Do the server in Java, do a client in Java, and let some other sucker do a native client if they want one.

$399 for an MP3 player doesn't sound so bad.

  7. boycott Mundie on O'Reilly Sez Ask Craig Mundie · · Score: 1

The most effective way to deal with this little publicity stunt (Daniel in the lion's den?) is to not show up, period. Microsoft is doing this just for PR. Mundie in an empty room would be a more powerful statement than any question.

If Slashdot didn't announce "unstable projects
and *patchlevels* of the Linux kernel", what
    would they announce, pray tell?

Why is this article so inappropriate, anyway?

This *is* primarily a developer site. If the
mainstream media use it as a source, it's their
    problem.

This community you speak of is *primarily* of
dissidents. You make it sound like it's bad,
nay un-American, to be a dissident.
