  2. I am a Republican on Star Wars Most Violent Movie Ever? · · Score: 1

Okay, we are a misunderstood bunch. We don't want to "BAN" movies. What most people in the Christian Coalition want is more restrictions on how younger kids view violent movies.

Violence is NOT measured by deaths, it is measured by the intensity of a death.

Back during the 1950s there were westerns and scifi etc. that had people dying, but they were lowkey.

We used to never have school shootings! What the hell is happening to the country? What is different?

    Two things:

    1. Guns are more easily accessible
    2. Graphic Violence is more common.

Are these two things to blame? Sure.

Most kids can handle violence with no problem. It won't make them want to kill or act out malaciously, they will handle it fine. But some won't. What we need are more responsible parents, and a stronger emphasis on family unity. The ratings are just to keep kids with apathetic parents from accessing it.

My kids will more allowed (encouraged) to watch all the starwars movies :-)

Here is my un-PC statement of the day to conclude this, what could help, is having women stay home with the children. Stay at home moms can help supervise children.

  6. When copyrights are broken, who is at fault? on Gnutella at One Year · · Score: 1

We all know that copyrighted material is being shared on both Gnutella and all the other P2P clones.

When for example, a song is shared. Who is at fault? The person downloading, or the person sharing?

It seems like the person downloading would be the guilty party(assuming they don't own the cd). If I leave a cd-r on top of my car, and someone takes it, did I commit piracy?

Also, when exactly do you break the law? When I transfer copyrighted material through my ISP do they "pirate"? Is it only pirating if someone listens to a song?

I think that brings up an interesting point. If you don't listen, is it piracy, and can they prove you listened to it?

You would think the RIAA would say, enough is enough, and do a minimal charge and allow people to share files freely(as in speech and as in beer).

I have no use for songs that are copy "protected"

At 100mbps you could download a 700mb divx movie in less than a minute!

This assumes that the other person has an equally fast connection. Downloading huge Mpeg2 files at archive.org/movies would be like blinking.

I wonder if the MPAA is concerned? This could escalate P2P in a way never thought of before. The only reason the MPAA hasn't come crashing down on Gnutella, Freenet, Swaptor et al. is because DivX at 700 mb is too big, and it is affecting them very little.

I submitted an article about archive.org. They have been adding films like crazy. Goto archive.org/movies and check it out.

Here are a few films, if you are not sure what to look for.

Duck and Cover - Very far fetched nuclear bomb warning, that tells you all will be fine by simply covering your face with your arms. Then everything will be swell. The same one from Atomic Cafe.

A Case of Spring Fever - For you MST3K fans, this was one of the funniest shorts they did(attached to squirm). An irrating spring does a christmas carol/its a wonderful life style presentation of the world without springs.

Supervising women workers - A very sexist movie about how you have to explain every little thing to women, because they just don't understand mechanical things like us guys do. Great to show feminists.

I am working on getting a list of movies on here that were done by MST3K.

It seems that if you download an mp3 you are not breaking any copyright law.

What if you download it and NEVER PLAY IT! If you don't play it, isn't that the same as someone taking their cd copies to the safe deposit box and putting them in there? Or lets say you make a copy and put it in your car. Your car gets broken into and the cds are taken, are you guilty of copy right infringement? 22. Where the RIAA misthinks on Napster's Execution Stayed; Not Fair Use · · Score: 1

You may be saying how dense can the RIAA be. You are right. They are extremely dense. This is how they see the world. A kid who is 14-24 downloads the equivalent of 20 albums from off line. They maybe buy 1 or 2 of them. Through RIAAs blinders: 20 albums * 15 per album = $300 - 30(he did buy 2 albums) = 270 that the brat will not pay us. For some reason sales remain up, but they still did not pay us 270 dollars. Through a microscope of rational thinking: The kid would have only bought at most 4 albums because he didn't have the money. Without napster he wouldn't have the songs. They may lose the equivalent of an album or two. How many people, if napster charaged by the song, would download as much stuff? Not many. --Joey
