Bad for Radio, blindsided...

MP3 will be bad for radio if they don't embrace it. It really could be a good way to increase customer loyalty and establish themselves in the new media world. If they take the stance of the RIAA they will set themselves up to be crushed. Not to mention the posibilities of running an MP3 station. There are a couple of server options out there, I believe. The problem is (and I know this becaus I market for radio/tv stations and read the industry press) they haven't really addressed the issue yet and are certainly not looking for ways to embrace and build upon it. The recent consolidation in radio creates a huge beauracracy making quick decisions and adaptation impossible. It might be close to the time for a new radio paradigm. Anyway, Happy Easter, let's go paint some eggs, hide them, and find 'em. Man, what a cool holiday!!
ummm, haven't had a skip since I got it. And that includes some nice faceplants while skiing..now if I can just extract the earpiece from my skull, I'll be in great shape.
Cops always seem to thing they are so special. Beating up on (basically) helpless geeks, just because they start breaking a few windows. Stories like this always make my blood boil and ache for the days when cops were good and nice.
At least linux is catching on in the biker community.
I think Microsoft filled/is filling an important role. They created an easy to use (albeit, buggy and expensive) OS and marketed it to the point that Windows became synonymous with "computer." I think there is also a benefit to everyone using the same OS, from a support perspective, an application perspective, a gaming perspective, etc. Without Windows I would not be the geek that I am, you can think less of me if you like, but I basically made my folks buy a PC and learned how to use it from scratch. You often must live with the swine to appreciate your bright shiny castle. What Linux needs is a one-button (my metaphor for mind-numbingly simple) install and setup that gives Net access, e-mail, and word processing. Then we can conquer the world. Oh yeah, and LOTS of drivers.
Best ending was this season. I don't remember the whole episode but at the end, they are all talking about all the good shows that are on NBC, maybe right now...Then after the screen fades to black, Homer issues an at-gunpoint apology, finishing off with, I believe, "ABC kicks ass" or some such, followed by a gunshot. I was laughing at that for the next 5 years.
best bits of the S episode... The sign outside the truckstop "Now aware of camp value", priceless. And the self-drive module, talking like HAL and then abandoning truck, very nice. Good hour of funny drawings.
Didn't I read that Katz is somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 years old or something. Not to back the sterotype, but maybe those old neurons just ain't firin' like they used too.
(~Troy McClure~)(paraphrase) "...and hopefully we'll have many more wonderful seasons between now and when the show becomes unprofitable."
I think they're still making money. The Simpsons get some of its highest ratings in the 12-17 year-old category, a.k.a. those who don't think it's quality is failing.
One of the better jokes from the show. Cops pull out sticks turn em on, get the cool buzzing/powering up sound...then proceed to beat Fry with the glowing batons. Very nice.
Perhaps its becuase of the good shows that people schedule less things to do? Or mabye it's just the white mice (screwing with us)
I think Fox is making a mistake moving the show to Tues. They have to help out Hank after he bombed by moving to Tues. My, that Castillo was a strong show. I would have loved to have a 2-hour Fox fest (Simpsons, Furama, X) Aahh well. Guess I'll still have to smoke two times a week;)
"I certainly prefer accountability and individualism, sad to see I'm resoundingly in the minority."
Don't let a few bad apples convince you that the whole freakin orchard is rotten. The only way that more people will accept personal accountability is if you do (yea, YOU). And only after you are tested. Of course, another way would be to test nuclear weapons on lawyer conventions, but heh, it ain't a perfect world, yet...
then they did an episode ABOUT the dumbifying of Homer in the extreme. Or at least paid lip service to it (Lisa wants to go the Isis exhibit, on yesterday in CO) Still the best on TV (although "Mr. Show with Bob and David" is pretty close)
I recently sent an e-mail to my "normal" friends bashing M$ and gates and extolling the virtues of Linux. However I met with much resistance, to quote:
"No one gives two shits. People are too busy to worry about stuff like this. You are denouncing arguably the smartest, most influential and successful person to grace the world during our lifetime. If it was not for him, you would be stuck 20 yeard ago with computers. Stop worrying and feeling bitter about who is getting richer and making more money than you. Have you ever thought to give them credit??"
(My friend has a bit of a confrontational personality)
The FUD is deep and long, and powerful b/c it rests on a kernel of truth. (update, in our continuing _conversation_ "I want to save this conversation and give it back to you in 30 years and laugh at you. It pisses me off more than anything to see pathetic souls, denounce the hard working man whose business, technological and common sense have happen to have made him millions" I'll send this back to him in 2 hehe.)
How do you fight this? Is it worth trying? Should we leave the weak and ignorant at the mercy of market share and expensive upgrades?
Bill is not the problem, the problem is the millions who "believe the hype". $60 billion US can buy a lot of PR and a boatload of TV. Fighting against the poster child of capitalism is not the way to go. Well?
Arrogance runs hand in hand with power. I think that is a natural/cultural law. Anyway....anyone know where I can find an UNBIASED comparison of WinX/Linux. Y'know, one that admits Linux has faults and Windows (dare I say it) has merits.

"'sheeeit, Linux? I run Red Hat on my linux box"
Well done, at least worthy of the Onion.

Has there been a poll about the rabidity of fanness of /.ers for the Simpsons. Something along the lines of "I watch X Simpsons episodes a week."
(10-12)
Yea, get out of here Bartfast, head on back to magrathea and work on some fjords.
(good points though)
