You paid $50,000 for multiple installations and several hundred user seat licenses? They owe you a refund.
Don't forget interest on that price as it can add up too.

BSD? Are you joking? If I'm going to pay for something to be free, why would I want to subsidize the proprietary products of someone else?

I was doing my taxes today (oh joy) and marked the box that mentioned something like $3 to the Presidential election campaign fund. Perhaps we could have a few donation check boxes to buy lucrative abandonware into the open source world.
Then again, sometimes it might be good to just start some projects completely over. Remember Netscape?
That's why we can buy "resale" bandwidth from an ISP. Its usually a much more expensive T1, but it can soon be replaced by these networks we are creating.
The telephone companies use tower to tower microwave communication all the time. They seem to prefer these little high gain directionall dishes over laying wires. Looking at the increasing simplicity of their towers over the years gives me hope. Gone are the massive magnetic feedhorns and bulky waveguides. They are now lightweight wire mesh parabolic dishes fed by coaxial cable.
Perhaps our ad-hoc neighborhood networks will follow the example of telephone companies. What we have might be refered to as the ham radio movement of the new melenium: teenagers mounting minature directional antennas on roofs to complete the backbone routing between main neighborhoods.
Twenty years ago, a hobbiest way to communicate was to errect large CB antennas on the roof. Today, it is small directional wireless lan antennas. Cool.
An unexpected hazard may be present with liquid nitrogen. Oxygen condenses at its temperature and may accumulate. Materials next to it may combust and explode next to this wonderful oxidizer.
Put an empty test tube in a flask of liquid nitrogen to collect oxygen. Then watch the pyrotechnic experiments of destruction...
Everytime I see a mention of this tax, I cringe. Every generation of my family has been trained to master at least one musical instrument. My sister may have four CD's and a movie released last year where she was listed seventh on the credits. Yet no member of my family has received a dime of this tax. All it has done has limited our recording device technology and hindered media coverage of family events.
Perhaps team with ThinkGeek in a promotion: buy $200 worth of gadgets and get a complimentary year's subscription? Sounds like a great partnership and great opportunities for the nerdy consumer.
Sure it will work. Its all about marketing. The RIAA isn't marketing. They are demanding through the use of force. They are trying to sell by beating people with a stick, rather than appealing to their good senses.
There are many profit motivated people who are trying to appeal to the masses with free music. The RIAA does not want any of that and wants us to believe that free music/software/beer will never work and will be the end of entertainment. Uh huh.
The EPA has a rule about wastes that states the party disposing is responsible from "cradle to grave." This means if the trash man that takes my waste illegally dumps it into someone's back yard, I am responsible for all clean up costs. This makes me more inclined to be vigilant when dealing with my trash service.
Be careful what you throw away. Old wastes have come back to haunt many and the cleanup bill can be devestating.
My guess is that these spams come from infected computers that are infested with a virus designed to send out spam and infect more computers at random. It might have been months or years since the first round hit and the email address of the satan who sent it is long gone (hopefully dead.)
What we have here is unique in our history. Now we have a controlling body that is an equal opportunity/affirmative action oppressor of information and media. There is the elite few and the rest of us. We pay taxes on media so they can grow and spread their empire to the rest of the New World.
Want to trade videos of your son's birthday party with the family? You must use the MPAA tax paid approved recording media so the elite can get their cut. Its all to support their vision of making sure the Top Artists have a decent home.
When you buy media sponsored by the RIAA or MPAA, you are supporting their lobbying efforts to help squash our independent recording technology. Patents and copyrights are only going to become more draconion. Its already a criminal offense to watch DVD's on my Linux box (I'm one of those nuts that just can't get along with Windows.) When will the persecution begin? Raids! Fines! Prison time!
Conduction of heat might be irrelevant considering the heating elements draw pretty much the same current in our environment. What I have found with electric clothing over the years is the amount of wattage rules. The layers of clothing over the heated liner multiplies that effect. Try 100mph at 20F for several hundred miles on a motorcycle and a great appreciation for raw power with wind resistant insualtion can do. It can mean the difference between comfort or death.
Nothing but highest recommendations. It appears it will last a lifetime. I have had this suit for this winter season and the quality appears to exceed BMW's heated vest which I have abused for two years without fail. After tearing up a widder in less than a month and fixing it several times until it could be used no more, I would go with nothing else besides BMW or Gerbing. And the heat output is incredible. Most importantly I know it will not fail on long trips. In the cold weather on a motorcycle in the middle of nowhere, quality is the difference between life and death.
My suit has electric heated socks (which are uncomfortable by themselves,) the two piece suit which can be comfortably worn over street clothes, electric gloves (never leave home without them,) and a the collar in the jacket has extra heating and sticks inside the helmet to keep my sinuses warm. It works and is worth the investment if you like the snow.
$500 is nothing. I paid $1100 for my electric motorcycle suit. It covers me from head to toe even at 100mph in 20F on the longest rides; however, 10 amps might be a bit much for a battery not being charged.
And only charge for user ID's greater than #3088, and have incremental weights based on this number for payments, so those of us with lower numbers get paid to surf slashdot.
A happy troll is a paying troll. Or is that a toll?
Speaking of spamming resumes... with a name like that, no wonder why no one would give him a job! What kind of parents would name their child Bernard? Related to a dog? Mr. Shitman needs to get his name changed.
Nothing wrong with vulnerabilities being found. If they aren't found, that occasional "crash" is dismissed as an annoyance. Vulnerabilities are bugs that are picked apart for all they are worth including the means to pry open a back door.
Finding these weaknesses, or "sploits" are a win in the long term for people who enjoy a reliable, bulletproof system. It has to be hacked and torn apart to the point of perfection before one can be proud of reliability.
What if they had a patent designed to prevent the consumer from interfacing with their purchased product. Or does the consumer not "own" property anymore, but have only "usage rights" these days and reverse engineering be damned.
"You may not import a product to allow a competitor's tires to fit our car. Your car is the property of the manufacturer and must be surrendered upon demand if the end usage terms and conditions are violated."
hmmmm... a patent covering the serial transfer of data over a twisted pair of wires accompanied by control lines limiting bandwidth in a controlled fashion.
Sprinkled with enough multisyllabic buzzwords, the most obvious and time proven techniques can be novel.

What happens when you graduate and then use your software in your new business? Would the BSA agree you would be in compliance with the license?
The way I read these licenses, once you are no longer a student, your "ownership" and use rights vanish.
So, if you didn't like someone, just plant an encrypted email and throw away the key. Give an annonymous tip (drugs, child porn, tax evasion, etc...) and wait until they are locked up without bail. Problem solved!

The RIAA is 'investigating' this company?
The RIAA is investigating just like Microsoft investigates Linux. Anyone can hire detectives and thugs to do some "detective" work.

Try actually having to deal with spammers. They lie and threaten to sue often if I complain.
If you do the crime, be prepared to do time on the blacklist. Ignorance of spam administration is no excuse.

What is the behaviour of 802.11b cards passing multiple nodes at high speed?
Your 2.4GHz card will overclock to 4.8GHz with twice the bandwidth if you travel at the speed of light down the highway.
