Yes, but while a penny might not be bad for some pages of some sites, there are sites wich I wouldn't give a used chewing gum to see... and sometimes you end up in a site like that by accident...
Nothing automatic will work... I can't risk going to the microsoft site and giving them a penny... not a single bloody peny...
Yes, it's true, it's possible to design pages that degrade, but it's also more expensive... if you are given a budget to do a page you have to decide what browser you want to design it for...
yes, and in the early days of evolution I could fell that sometimes parts of the program would crash but others would continue to run perfectly, thus a bug would not spread to the whole program.
Actualy I had some problems with it, on a few of my web servers, when the load was high a mem low....
2.0.x,2.2.x,2.4.x kernels are suposed to be safe... the 2.4.x broke this... I don't think I will trust installing a new kernel like I used to...
For me it works... I don't have windows, I don't want windows, but today I wanted to see the Star Wars trailer... I bought the program and I'm quite happy with it... it works fine (exept for a small problem installing quicktime, but they already fixed it)... so this makes sense for some ppl at least
Sure, but us techies like to have as much power as possible, I did a amusing thing the other day wich was only possible with my Athlon 1.3ghz I pointed my webcam at myself a made a movie of me while playing quake... try that in a PII....
And of course EVERYBODY likes to have a faster computer just to get more seti packets in....
Yes, unixes have a learning curve, but I always found that once you learn something in unix you will use it always, while in windows you learn mostly to deal with bugs that aren't there in the next version... so a lot of your efort in learning is wasted from version to version...
So in the end it's harder and more frustrating learning windows stuff... I myself have given up... I don't touch the windows anymore...
In a dictatorship the state is terrorist... and the state will call terrorists to the people it finds more convenient...
In my country 30 years ago you could be arrested for speaking your mind, of course they would arrest you legally for not having a cigarrete lighter licence (or some other convenient law)...
No bait here, my coment was made because your irony was moderated "Insightful" at the time...
A funny moderation wouldn't have started my furious typing...
That's all fine and dandy while you trust your goverment...
tomorow YOU may be the criminal if the goverment changes...
The taking of liberties and hiding information is the road to dictatorship, the us is starting to thread down that road, the terrorits will have won if you go that way...
Yes, around here in Portugal it's still very expensive, but for those of us that were using regular modem thru gsm we get the benefit of not having to lose 45s just for the modem sync, and about 1.5 mins to login...
Right now it's cheaper doing certain things in gprs.
You can use it with a palm... or something else with a irda connection...
A friend of got gprs and uses it to talk on icq in the train, bus, etc
He also uses it to read slashdot:-) so I guess there are some uses for it...
Well for once you can have a linux will a apache server, mysql, modperl, all the nice things that are so easy in linux and then open a macos window just to check who it looks on the mac...
Yes, coleage of mine used mol everyday for about 6 months, he was a mac guy that was kind of forced to use linux (by me ehehe), but he had a few need that only the mac could provide (he had to read a few mac files, and use photoshop, etc) so we just installed linux and mol on his g4.
It runs very well even, the few problems he had where due to poor support on the X server (no accel) mol ran just fine anda even allowed him to save his session.
He just quit using it because we decided to try OS/X for his particular setup.
Quake doesn't really ask alot of any relatively modern system
Sure, but who's playing vanilla quake ? I want to play UT2, TC or Q3F and with those you need a fast machine and a fast video card...
I get 100-150fps normal quake, but only 60-90 in UT2.
The problem with those 150fps is that they are measured in a standard test, in real life (or real gamming) situations the frame rate goes way down in a few situations (lots of people, lots of complicated shaders, etc)
If you have quake, try installing ut2 mod and time it with a demo... you will see that a 150 fps card will probably came down to 40-50 fps sometimes.
"Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) Pro slot boasting a maximum data transfer rate of over 1GB per second."
Most graphics cards nowadays are in a AGP slot, around here i can't even buy a PCI one... so those 133MB/s are way off... AGP X4 gives 1GB/s, of course you might just get x2 but it's still 512MB/s
X-Box is evil, your only helping microsoft... don't buy it... It's microsoft's way to extend it's monopoly to the gaming industry...

if you wanted to fuck up every company in the city, just build one of these...

yes, but it's not codeweavers fault, it's the companys that make the plugins, codeweaver just makes it so that you can run them on linux...

Yes, I'm afraid a bit too entertaining for public viewing... ;-)

You can try the new control center using ximian (I always do my updates from there), it's on the preview channel in red-carpet...
Yes, no poluents while working, but the waste that remains after they are done with it.... takes quite a lot of years to get rid of that stuff...
sure rub it in!
:-)
darn this filters.... will this never end ?
