  1. It's a joy to use on Why not Ruby? · · Score: 1

Everytime I've thought, 'my language ought to do...' ruby usually does it. It manages to combine extreme utilitarianism - it does a good a job as perl in most places that perl does best - with elegance and simplicity in the language design.

If you like perl because it makes handling regex easy, but you think that the way perl handles OO is a little strange you'll love it.

If you like python because it makes building OO apps simple, and without verbosity, ruby is even nicer (it wasn't a hack on a procedural language).

The Archimedes used an OS called Arthur when it first came out, and was the direct ancestor to RISCOS.

Amongst other things, it lacked any sort of multitasking. I remember using First Word Plus on it.

No of course not. Emacs and VI have always iteroperated, but did that stop anyone bickering? ;)

It's actually a sandboxing issue. Because most MSApps are scriptable, it is very easy to have the scripts automatically executed on opening of the file.

You need to disable or sandbox scripts recieved from foreign sources.

Part of the problem of course, is that some of the standard interchange formats (.doc, .xls etc...) are actually executable formats!

Solaris does, as does Linux x86 (beta, but works pretty well)
