I would assume that at some point Samsung counter sued, claiming that the suit was malicious and caused damage (i.e. costs) to Samsung. That is fairly common in the UK. I have done that in a court case but I was awarded money. As the counter suit becomes part of Apple's original suit the cost of a counter suit is negligible and in my case I was really happy when they took me to court as it meant that I could counter sue for free when I would not have been able to afford to sue them if they had not instigated the case. Many American companies suffer in European courts because they fail to really understand the differences. The court has to address the damage that Apple has caused to Samsung and this seems a fair way of doing it. It has been done before (they are saying that the bad press is more damaging than the financial loss) but it is more common to award money.

It is a big issue to a European that assumes a right of privacy but of course to an American who is only used to that right in name alone, this is not an issue. In Europe the data remains mine. I own it. They can use it only as I allow them to use my data.

It does not matter if he wins or not, if he can garner support from the idea of being unfairly treated he will probably actually benefit from losing. I used to work with Greenpeace and we used to do things that were clearly illegal but the companies involved would always be the ones pressuring the police to drop the charges so that it would drop off the front page. We wanted it to stay on the front page and would be openly antagonistic toward the police to make them not want to drop any charges. It really does not matter about the outcome, several years of appeals helps keep the public reading about it. We were never allowed to appeal against being found not guilty though...

I know of one guest house here that had a bad report on trip advisor about staff stealing from the guests before the guest house had even received any guests. They had just opened and had not done any business at all and there first review was fake.

Stop reading the US propaganda and look at the real world. The iPhone is slow. The S3 does so much more and has applications that are not even on the iPhone. Just because you live in a backwater does not mean that rest of us are still using the old tech that you have to put up with.

As for ahead, I think that means the iPhones dual core 1.2 compared to the Samsung quad core 1.4. Content, total freedom instead of restricted, Samsung wins hands down.

You will have to remember that you are writing to a predominantly American audience and they have no idea of what the Samsung range of phones really look like. Have you seen the piece of shite that gets called a Galaxy II in the US and compared it to the Asian version. It is a completely different phone. Yes, Samsung are streets ahead of Apple but as Apple have managed to keep most of the Samsung products off of the American shelves the people there have no idea of where the real market is these days.

I was looking at tablets yesterday and there is no way that I would consider the Apple. I do prefer its gestures but it is so far behind in features (i.e. USB and microSD) that it is no good for my needs as I need a lot of storage. The phones are the same, I like the Apple but a couple of nice touches and gestures compared to usablilty means that it is not a contender and then when you look at the power of the Samsung you stop even considering the Apple.

I am an Apple fanboy or rather was prior to iOS. I much prefer using OSX with the ability to use the BSD CLI etc.

Maybe it is well past time that companies (i.e. Microsoft) learnt to support customers rather than drive them. If 43% of businesses are really happy with XP then they should continue to support it. Many companies are fed up with constant updates (although constant is not an apt word with this time frame) and would prefer to stick with something that works. Most companies are not interested in bleeding edge and just want Doris to be able to type up that invoice for the roof that Gary has fixed or the sink that Fred unblocked or whatever and updating the computer to do the same job is of zero importance.

It is one thing that a company does not want to continue to develop an old product but when they pull the plug on updates etc. rather than just leaving the server running, I feel that they are not complying with their agreement. If Doris needs to run a new scanner or something that does not work with XP then it is time for her to talk to her boss but while she is happy with her laserjet churning out reams of invoices and heating up the office at the same time, let her.

    Written using XP :-)
