Just curious as to why you say Chasing Amy doesn't count. Kevin Smith is my favourite film maker, and Amy is his best movie, and I was curious as to your comment. Is it because it was an indie flick? Slow down cowboy!

Slashdot requires you to wait 2 minutes between each submission of comments.pl in order to allow everyone to have a fair chance to post.

It's been 1 minute since your last submission! Yeah, thanks Taco you asshole. Us people stuck with shitty metered net access appreciate your fucking lame programming when we happen to be fast typers and post two relevant comments in quick succession. You are a cunt.

I really don't understand why anyone other than fanboys were pissed with the MB Godzilla. The movie was good. If you approached it the way I did, which is the actors are there just to point and go "Look at the big lizard!" then you'll enjoy it. Any fanboy who wants to see some cock in a rubber suit is an arse.

It's a proven scientific fact (no bullshit!) that something pivotal happens in ALL movies around the 25 minutes mark. Saw that in a documentary years ago and it's actually true. I'm 30 now and saw that documentary when I was 12, so I ALWAYS give a movie 30 minutes as every time I've checked, the 25 minute mark thing is bang on. The movie they used as an example was "Some Like It Hot" as the 25 minute mark is when Marilyn Monroe first appears.

Try it next time you watch a movie. Generally between 22 and 28 minutes, something major to the plot will happen.

Katz is a fool. I mean God, I say through Reanimator from start to finish, and that was on video which I could have stopped at any time. If I could do that I'm pretty sure a hack like Katz could have given the movie 30 minutes instead of defrauding the theatre.

The problem with the original JP is it SUCKED ASS!

Go rewatch it some time and play the game my wife and I play. "Spot the continuity error". Honestly, I have NEVER seen such an appalling movie for that. What with cars that one minute are covered in condensation, next are bone dry, people who limp in one scene, then strangely don't in the next... HORRIBLE movie.

As for Lost World, well it sucked in the plot department, but IMO the actors were just there to get eaten by the dino's. Nothing more, nothing less. It's was mildly amusing.

So saying "shut up" just because there are dinosaurs is fair enough, but the original JP was a flat out bad movie, and an insult to a great book. Incidentally, that is the only decent book Crichton has written. The guy is a worse hack than John Grisham. Want a truly horrible experience? Read "Congo". Plus, what the fuck is up with the way he writes dialogue? People will say "can't" in one sentence and "cannot" in the next. And not to make a point. It's simply that he writes lousy dialogue.

Actually, in fairness, "Rising Sun" was good once you got past his odd way of writing dialogue.

Jurrasic Park 3? The number indicates the IQ you need to enjoy the movie. Any higher and you'll be bored. I mean the Raptors have wings for Gods sake!

This is moronic. I know I'm preaching to the choir here on the slash, but when are govts. going to realise they cannot censor the Internet. I mean the only sensible way is to have someone examine every single packet. This reminds me of... Damn... Can't remember the name now, but it was one of these stupid filtering products and it was filtering out information on breasts because it was considered obscene. Only thing was it was censoring sites relating to breast cancer. There was also another case of software blocking access to the holocaust museum because it mentions the Nazi's. WTF?

Australia always seemed to me like a sane country.

There is no sensible way to implement this, but since when did sensible enter into what a government does...

My condolences to all those effected by this stupidity:(

People with lower end systems are going to be screwed and even having net access isn't going to get away from the "have's and have not's" syndrome. Low end computer? As for making pages look good in Netscape, I don't really care HOW they look so long as I can get the info I need.

If you have less than 8 megs on it, a version of Debian (2.0?) has a low memory installer disk. I had to use this on my 4 meg laptop. In fact I installed Debian entirely from floppies and it works wonderfully. For some reason Debian have dumped the lowmem boot disk now, which is a real shame since the Debian on my laptop is a bit crusty now.

Why did Debian drop this? It's the ONLY distro I could find that would easily install on my laptop. Found instructions for Slack but they were mostly incomprehensible.

Of course, if your system has a lot of ram all this is irrelevant.

Version 7 is unstable (had to reinstall once as it died for no reason), unrealiable (X hangs requiring a power cycle) and the dependencies are totally hosed.

I don't think browsers could get that small without someone re-writing history and dumping all the, lets face it, superfluous crap that infects out web browsing these days. HTML WAS a great concept. The web in it's infancy was great, now it's been polluted with Javascript which, while it has it's place, has done very little for web design other than make people take the cheap route and use JS when CGI is a much slicker alternative.

For a browser to support the myriad of scripts, plugin's and all that jazz, you're going to be looking at a very hefty download, or a very slim featured browser IMO.
