Even assuming it wasn't a clerical error, no one said to ban the study of it altogether. It was just being removed from the list of areas funded by a grant for low-income folks. If you dont' need that grant, then go ahead and knock yourself out.
As a side note, I find it interesting how on one hand the government can't show support for Christianity at all, but it MUST provide funding for everything else, even atheistic dogma guised as 'science' - like the "theory" of evolution. To date, evolution is more of a belief system than it is a science. 1. The fossil records do not show the transitionary fossils required by the theory. 2. The sudden appearance of all the various phylum is currently beyond any evolutionists explanation. 3. No one has ever observed a species 'mutate' into another species in the last 200 years. 4. No one has been able to scientifically cause one species to change into a new species in a lab. Until one or more of those things can happen or be explained scientifically, then evolution is really no more than a set of beliefs - not at all unlike a religion. So it is apalling to me that my tax dollars HAVE to go to fund this study, while they absolutely cannot be used to provide bibles to those that want them.
The whole point of the code/comments it to create a computer program that does some function. This can be accomplished without a single comment, but can't be without code. I appreciate code that has what I call "good comments", but code that has wordy, or even innaccurate comments (which is over half the code I look at) is less readable than the plain code. A lot of times the comment says one thing, while the code does something else.
I think if you are going to be competent enough to write software in a given language, then you should be able to read it fluently - hence no need for a lot of comments in the middle of code. There are a few times were something tricky is being done, or there is some interaction with code in another location, where you need a brief statement to remind a later reviewer of such things, and some documentation in the interfaces (headers) is nice - IF KEPT CURRENT AND UP-TO-DATE WITH THE CODE!
This analysis is not correct. I'm moving to the country and do not have a broadband option available, as I don't have very good visibility to sky at my new home. I just (yesterday) purchased dial-up.... my costs:
Second Phone Line: 11.95 per month Intergate ISP: 8.25 per month
TOTAL = 20.20 per month
Dial-up is indeed 1/2 the cost.
By the way, I setup a windows box with internet connection sharing to my network and tried it out.... It isn't bad for surfing and things like posting here, but it would really suck for downloads.... I guess if I can still do email, slashdot, and google searches / research, I'll be happy for now.... I'll just go to a 802.11 hotspot if I need to download something big.
Microsoft can have their cake and eat it too if they just make the base xbox have usb 2.0 or firewire, and have the capability to mount a separately purchased hard-drive. This makes the base unit cheaper, and forces those that want backwards compatibility or media-center capabilities, or whatever to pay for it. They won't loose money this way. It would be nice if they made it so that you could use ANY firewire or USB drive, as many people already have those laying around.
Just a thought that I hadn't seen posted here yet.
how about "Dances with worms" a touching story filmed in the beautiful sand plains about a saudarkar who discovers the beatuy of the fremen culture and becomes a sandworm rider....

Let the flames begin.

When I went to the webpage, my norton internet security informed me someone was trying to do an overflow exploit on my computer.
/. that is used to compromise peoples computers.
Either that webpage has an error in it, or someone put a link on
BEWARE!
