  1. stupid comments == racist on Computer Curriculum for Inner City Kids? · · Score: 2

It sounds like you are the one who has the prejudice. He never mentioned anything about these kids being different, you brought that on, don't project your feelings and overly PC attitude onto others.

Wake up, inner city is different, the kids aren't dumb, they just aren't the same as more suburban kids, I know this from experience, having lived in both environments, and it is a fact that many inner city kids have had less computer experience then those in other environments.

Understanding the world isn't racism it's life, If he had said, "now what am I gonna teach these getto monkeys?" that would have been racism, but no, you covered that for us.

I think about this more and more, why would I pay for low quality, jumpy, static filled, slow to download rips of cds? Seriously paying to download from napster is more of a risk than buying from sketchyonlinescamstore.com, the connection might fail, the file might be misidentified, there are a whole host of reasons, not to mention that the model is all wrong. Ya, I'm am gonna sell you something that some one else has. I'd rather just buy the cd, no, I'd rather use bearshare and send the artist 15 smack, then I know some record company isn't stealing it all.

are they gonna have to recycle all old broken cars?

I think this might be the job of the consumer, gasp, heaven forbid we pay to get rid of OUR crap. Just cause they provided us with a machine doesn't mean they should have to eat the costs of destroying it. Were I used to live we had to pay for all our trash bags, no company was paying there part of that $.75 a bag, I had to pay for it, perhaps this should be the same way.

I know no one wants to pay to throw out an old box, but it really doesn't make much sense to try to figure out what company pays to rid me of my box that was built from parts from 5 different companies...

  5. sell your content on Financing Growing Websites? · · Score: 1

I know everyone gets mad when people suggest this, but heaven forbid a website have a revenue model. There are alternative payment schemes out there. I have been working for a company that provides such a service. Clickshare (http://www.clickshare.com) provides people with the ability to charge very low prices for content without the hassles of having to deal with credit card transactions. I am not just saying this cause I work there, I took this job becuase I saw that this was a solution to many a content driven yet revenue-less web companies. Free info is nice, but keeping a site alive is a little more imporatant. I would much rather get some stuff for free and pay for some premium services than lose a resourse all together. just my $.02, this one's for free :)

  6. this is nothing new; work with it guys.... on In-Game Advertising Comes of Age · · Score: 1

I'm not a big gamer, but a lot of the sport games that I play have had sponser adds in them for some time now. As long as they keep it to a realistic level then it shouldn't impede on the experience and as many have said it will only increase realism.
Also, some commented that they have already bought the game, why should they have to watch adds. Ever watch cable? I pay $40 a month for that crap and the adds there are very intrusive.

Don't go RIAA on this one, if you embrace things by providing positive feedback then you can help controll them in a good way. Don't just fight something you can't defeat, try to help steer it in a direction that is mutually benificial.
