I know what your father probably is talking about, but it is a magnetic field issue. I have found that in the old analog phones they can mess with the wet compass above... Typically a 5 degree offset by the way... No factor, though, as the engine does the same... That is whay they calibrate them. Also, you dont really use the wet compass anymore except for a instrument cross check...
Not so... Most of the cell phones only transmit at about 1/8 watt, and would never be able to get a signal after about 1000 agl. In fact, I am an instrument rated pilot with over 10 years of experience and my own airplane and I can tell you from experience have found that I start to get a signal at about 1500 agl. In most situations it is OK because I an call people to pick me up at the airport right as I start to enter the pattern. Above this, however, no signal..
No worries, though, as I keep my old analog 3 watt phone in the plane just for this case. It can get a signal from >= FL18. Unfortunately, though, as you discribed above, I take a channel on each tower for about the entire state. Luckily, though, there is only one carrier left that will give analog support. After they give up, I guess I will have to buy the higher cost air phone instead...:-(

As another business owner, I think I know one big reason why your business is failing... You also forgot who your customer is... What right do you have to tell that kid what he can and cant do because of a major flaw your industries business model? This kid is only doing what makes sense to most logically minded individuals that just paid >= $15 for an album. If your industry charged $2 for that album, do you honestly think that anyone would bother the pain of burning it?
What your industry should have done is realised that the individual "value" of your product was going down and reduced your prices accordingly to compete. That is what the rest of us do. Also, as far as waiting for the financial report, GOOG does not give future guidance, and is definitely known for this "vague" reporting. For example, what is their fraud click rate on their partners program? Your guess is as good as mine, because they do not report this their 10Q or 10K. This in spite of many industry analysts saying that the number could be as large as 20% click thru rates.
In short, Google is a good company and has made allot of money for stock holders, but tomarrow is what is important from an investing standpoint, not yesterday....
The best implementation I have seen so far for running MS products is to use VMWare Server (free) running on Gentoo (or whatever) implented thru LVM2, and accessing it thru MS Remote Desktop. VMWare Console access is not very good, but Remote Desktop is perfect for pretty much all non-video/audio business apps. This setup is easy to manage and upgrade, and is gosh darn reliable.

Interestingly enough, this version seems to consume HD space simply with doing nothing.
Thats the basics folks. Give your Vista beast what it needs and you should have a kind of good experience. At least for at least 6 months or so... Then you must slay the beast and re-install..:-)
