No, the CRTC defines the Canadian content broadcasting rules.
Which has *NOTHING* to do with the topic at hand.
If you'd do even the smallest amount of investigation, you'd see that the statements about "The Great White North" are provably false.
Here's a quote for you:
Evaluation of Canadian content in a television program is based on the following criteria: whether its producer and key creative personnel are Canadian; the amounts paid to Canadians for services provided to make the program; and amounts spent in Canada on lab processing.
On other words, the CRTC decides what is "Canadian" not by the script content, but by the nationality of the production (crew, writers, etc) and where it's filmed.
But of course, it's easier for you to maintain your "oh, the CRTC is so stupid" mentality if you don't actually know anything about what the rules actually are, right?
The issue is not that the person himself is not a reliable source, it's that Der Spiegel dropped the ball by using Wikipedia as a source for the full name that they printed.
Wow. Just *WOW*. That is just so fucked up I'm at a loss for words.
I said that Wikipedia's criteria for determining if a source is "authoritative" is wrong, and you try to contradict that by pointing out that the source they quoted was wrong?
that's just as bad as an all closed-source ecosystem
Care to expand on that?
If you assume that the needs of the users are being met, all open-source has *many* advantagess that closed-source doesn't (auditability, ease of maintenance, transparency, lack of vendor lock-in.)
What is it specifically is the problem with an all-open source environment that a closed-source environment doesn't have that makes it as bad as all that?
Please tell me you didn't just call Perl "nice" or "clean".
The fact that you believe Perl is "cleaner" than Javascript tells me that you are already a victim of Perl Syndrome, and should report immediately to your local sanitarium.
This is the same group that came to Canada last year, and started telling everyone (especially politicians here) that Canada has the highest rate of illegally downloaded music in the world.
I had to explain to several people that they were outright lying - and provably so... In reality the percentage of illeaglly downloaded music in Canada is *ZERO* (ie. it's legal to download here due to the copyright levy), so unless every other country in the world has a *negative* "piracy" rate, it's impossible for Canada to have the highest rate.
Just more propaganda - I suspect this is being put out now to try to influence your incoming administration.
alternately you could use a better damages analogy and say "can you imagine if I stole 7 pieces of jerky, broke it into bits and sold all those bits to several million people at a price of $1.00 per person"
Considering she never *sold* anything, how is that a better analogy?

<sarcasm> Yeah! Not to mention that they released the source code too! How do they think they're going to monetize something by releasing the source code so their competitors can see it?!?! When will those open source guys ever learn?
Note to open source developers: If you're going to release something, you need to wait until it's completely finished (as EmagGeek said) and not release the source code with it! </sarcasm>
(score -1: unfamiliar with the concept, but commenting on it authoritatively anyway.)
I can't speak for marc.andrysco, but personally I abhor it because this particular counsel has shown that they are not above outright lying to the court.
A lawyer's first responsibility is to the court, not the client. They are supposed to represent the client to the best of their ability, but not at the expense of the court. The simple fact that this particular lawyer has had at least one of the judges recommend sanctions speaks volumes about just what kind of morals they have.
Of course we do. You said it in your next sentence:
this information might have actually stopped another major attack or two, saving thousands of lives. Certainly some in the government would like us to believe that.
DINGDINGDINGDINGDING!
If any of this was used in any way to detect or prevent a terr'ist attack, Dick Fucking Cheney himself would be all over the news talking about how the evil terr'ists had been thwarted by the Republicans, and how they need to be given more powers to "protect" you.
The fact that *nobody* has said that this has been useful in stopping what they claim it stops means that it isn't.

No, you're confused.
I'm not confused, you're delusional.
The issue is not that the person himself is not a reliable source, it's that Der Spiegel dropped the ball by using Wikipedia as a source for the full name that they printed.
Wow. Just *WOW* . That is just so fucked up I'm at a loss for words.

Wow. Just Wow.
As you don't actually address my argument, am I correct in assuming that you can't?
Here we go again.
You mean with all the wikipedia apologists?
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Like all encyclopediae, it cannot be taken as a primary source of information.
OK then, what do you suggest? Oh, that's right...
you need to go to primary sources.
You mean like the actual fucking person the article is about? Oh wait, Wikipedia doesn't consider the actual fucking person to be a "primary source"!
And therein lies Wikipedia's problem.
in what way is the "second" metric?
How about this way?
that's just as bad as an all closed-source ecosystem
Care to expand on that?

Such as the copy you make in installing it to your computer?
Yes, exactly - that same copy that "is created as an essential step in the utilization of the computer program in conjunction with a machine" and is therefore explicitly authorized under Section 117 of US copyright law.
Microsoft gives us updates all the time and we trust them to fix bugs and security holes.
What you mean "we", Kemosabe?
Your logic is astoundingly bad.
In most businesses, repeat customers are the key to long term success and I suspect telemarketer service providers are not immune to that.
Why do you suspect that?
These people are fraud artists. What on earth makes you think that they are "most businesses"?!?!?!
It's like saying "oh, those people running a pyramid scam can't stay in business for long, because eventually they'll run out of people to scam."
You are astoundingly naive if you think that con artists rely on the same methods as normal businesses.
Right, 'cause women are just good for laughing at or banging.
Of course not - don't be ridiculous!
You forgot cooking and cleaning. /me ducks
Please tell me you didn't just call Perl "nice" or "clean".

err, well.. sort of anyway. :)
Holy crap, that rocked just reading it. Please tell me that's a real song that I can buy.

Exchange has a feature your email client didn't support.
Since when was "pretend something didn't happen" a feature?
iTunes won't work right in Windows XP x64, while it works great in Windows 7.
Don't worry, I'm sure that will be fixed by the final release. :)
Norberg [...] said the chiropractor was being dishonest with insurance companies.
I'm guessing that the part you quoted (which doesn't mention insurance companies *at all*) isn't the part where he claimed fraud.
On what basis do you abhor this appointment?
I can't speak for marc.andrysco, but personally I abhor it because this particular counsel has shown that they are not above outright lying to the court.

It sickens me how blinded people are by partisan politics.
Then why do you engage in it?
Your first post presupposes *way* too much to be anything other than partisan.
Unfortunately we have no way of knowing.
Of course we do. You said it in your next sentence:

They didn't care if they got 20,000 or so 'false positives'
... because they still made thousands of dollars from each of those 'false positives' by threatening them with a lawsuit.
